I like the blue sashing too.

canmitch1971 07-29-2010 10:34 AM

After I posted that I liked the blue sashing, I saw the attic window and love it.

Is there a "mathematical" way to lay this blocks out and do you think I should go with sashing or without like Champagnolle?

granny

the blue fabric has little stars

Like it!
ok, just thought I would fool around in EQ5 to lay this out...just a suggestion

What do you think?
the horizontal fabric of the two brown versions could also be switched

Love the attic window idea! Really brings out the colors.

kristen0112 07-29-2010 10:57 AM

I like the attic windows I still like the brown.

fabric_lover 07-29-2010 11:08 AM

I like the brown sashing as it shows the blocks better.

quiltlady 07-29-2010 11:20 AM

These are so so cute. I love how you used the woodgrain fabric to look like the craddle. Could you post just one close up each of just one boy and girl block so we can see the details of the bears better? thanks Love them great idea for practicing blocks.

Chrys 07-29-2010 11:30 AM

that is so adorable!!!

the blocks are very square. They dont lay flat as I am attaching a piece of batting under the blanket to get a kind of 3D effect - hopefully.....

If you sash, I LOVE the yellow!!! Very bright and cheery, and lets the bear blocks shine!!

quiltlady 07-29-2010 01:14 PM

How did you do the furry look to your applique stitch? Is part of it by hand? It makes the bear look more dimensional also.

I found the design by allstitching.com and its all done by the embroidery machine

dotcomdtcm 07-29-2010 02:05 PM

This is just about my favorite child's quilt. Bravo!

anicra 07-30-2010 03:47 AM

It's wonderful. I like it with the sashing!

sewnmom 07-30-2010 03:52 AM

you've got an adorable baby quilt there.. i like everything about the yellow w/ red dots sashing.. molly

KR 07-30-2010 04:02 AM

Adorable!! And great job on the embroidery, too! I like the brown sashing as it doesn't compete with the beds. Then probably the yellow print for a border, maybe doing a scallop border or prairie points.

As for layout, I would alternate boy-girl and then see how they play out with the design and colors of their little blankies.

Be sure to post a photo when it's done....thanks for sharing!!

BusyDebbie 07-30-2010 05:06 AM

that is so cute I also like the blue sashing

raspberryparade09 07-30-2010 05:22 AM

So very cute!! I love the bears with the quilt blocks. Your colors are perfect.

tadpoles_62 07-30-2010 05:53 AM

i like the bottom pic with the yellow dotted sash ,

gramqlts 07-30-2010 06:07 AM

I love it. Makes a great little boy quilt. May try to make one myself as I make baby quilts for new babies born at our church and try to stick with boy/girl patterns.

I like the brown sashing. Really makes the bears pop!

OmaForFour 07-30-2010 06:29 AM

DEFINITELY the blue!

SharonC 07-30-2010 06:31 AM

These bears are absolutely adorable. I prefer the sashing, it seems to set each block off nicely.

granny_59 07-30-2010 06:40 AM

Thank you all so much for your feedback. As suggested by Alienquilter I go with an attic window including the brown fabric and so far I like it very much.
Will post pics, as soon as I am done..........might take a while

tryitall 07-30-2010 07:49 AM

I really like the sashing, especially the last 2 fabrics. It looks great for a child.

Jannie 07-30-2010 09:08 AM

I vote for the brown sashing. It makes the blocks look really bright!

SandyMac 07-30-2010 09:15 AM

Really like the white sashing :-D

pjustice63 07-30-2010 11:27 AM

One of the cutest quilts I have seen on here. You can't go wrong. Anyway you lay it out, it is going to be beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

carolyne2421 07-30-2010 12:51 PM

i like it with the light colored sashing,,real cute quilt

jacqstash 07-30-2010 02:21 PM

Adorable - like the brown sashing - want to make one!

rwquilts 07-30-2010 02:24 PM

Love your blocks!!! I would vote for brown sashing 1st...2nd blue...the other colors wash it out too much...

sewbeeit42 07-30-2010 03:28 PM

I prefer the cocoa brown sashing as it seems to high light the cute bears.

Champagnolle 07-30-2010 03:59 PM

Wow! Your bears are so, so cute. I can tell you enjoyed making them a lot more than I enjoyed making mine. I loved piecing the little quilts but not making the bears.

Rusty's Mama 07-30-2010 04:07 PM

The blocks are so cute and I love it with the brown sashing - really makes the blocks stand out. Adorable pattern!

mequilter 07-30-2010 04:08 PM

It's going to be an adorable quilt! Definitely use the sashing & I'll vote for the bright orange, it makes the blocks pop!

laureneberhard 07-30-2010 04:41 PM

Suggestion: Take pictures of each setting and see which one you keep going back to. That will make your decision for you. VERY CUTE

DeniseB 07-30-2010 04:46 PM

Oh, how sweet. No matter how you arrange it it will be terrific.

Friendly Quilter 07-30-2010 04:49 PM

I LIKE THE SASHING, THE BROWN, BLUE AND YELLOW. THE WHITE KIND OF WASHES IT OUT, MIGHT TRY A RED BCKGROUND WITH A FLOWER FOR A GIRLS.
