Really love this patter, maybe because I love bears! But anyways, I like the brown sashing the best! What a great pattern for babies or younger kids. Where can one find this pattern?

anniec55 07-30-2010 06:57 PM

I like both the brown and the light print think I like the brown one the best! That is just too cute!

josi49 07-30-2010 07:13 PM

The blocks are so cute and I love it with the brown sashing - blue would be my second choice. Adorable pattern! That's one lucky child that is getting this quilt.

The white one's too busy looking & you loose the blocks in the yellow. I'd suggest either the blue or the brown, but the BLUE mat'l is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE (even though it does lend itself more as a boy's quilt, I do think that with the number of bows on the bears & pink in the "blankets", either gender would absolutely love it)

Ditter43 07-30-2010 09:06 PM

I love them with the yellow sashing!!

JudithAnn 07-30-2010 09:16 PM

I love this!!! Sashing really makes the bears POP! and I like the different personalities of each of the bears!

I cant thank you enough for posting your bears in bed. I would have never been able to come up with an idea like that by myself and giving each other inspiration is a great thing on this board. If I am finished with this one I might try one with miniature quilts instead of sampler blocks....

thank you all so much for the feedback

I got 24 blocks, four each in the colors green, red, yellow, purple, blue and bright yellow. Two of each "girls", two boys.
Is there a "mathematical" way to lay this blocks out and do you think I should go with sashing or without like Champagnolle?

granny

the blue fabric has little stars

They are really cute, I think sashing for sure, just depends on who the quilt is for on what color! Thanks for sharing.

Tweety2911 07-31-2010 04:00 AM

The bears are so adorable and love the windows attic theme to showcase each one.

noveltyjunkie 07-31-2010 05:25 AM

I like the blue or the pale floral for sashing. The latter would probably be considered too girly if you are making it for a boy?

I didn't have a pattern when I made Bears in Bed. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-48957-1.htm

I just made squares I liked and drew out bear faces and machine appliqued them on. It is really fun to do because you know your quilt will be different from what anyone else will do. The bears here are much cuter than the ones I did.

Can't offer setting advice, but want to comment on what a super job you have done so far. It is beautiful.

Annz 07-31-2010 07:40 AM

I like it with the sashing and I like the butterscotch looking one. The middle one when you asked about other sashing colors.

wildyard 07-31-2010 09:14 AM

Love the attic windows. Otherwise, love the gold color for sashing!!

franie 07-31-2010 09:17 AM

I like the brown for sashing. What adorable blocks. Can't wait to see the finished product.

cbuchanan 07-31-2010 11:09 AM

First choice is brown (for bears) and my second is blue. Definitely like the sashing.

It is going to be a fabulous quilt any way you go!

I agree.
Love the quilt. It will be great what ever way you do it.

JackieG 07-31-2010 12:22 PM

Sashing would look awesome in either the blue or the white print for contrast. You might experiment laying the yellows diagonally, since you have more of those. Just so cute. I love the bows.

Kooklabell 07-31-2010 01:24 PM

The brown sashing is nice, even thought I love blue. I would place them boy/girl/boy. To put them rows of boys/rows of girls would make the quilt look stripey. As for the setting of the individual bears in each row - my rule is to lay out the squares, look, then squint. The squinting helps me see if one color is too much in one place or too much pop in one area - then I move them until everything seems balanced. How's that :)

soo cute. I love it. You did a great job. God bless.

Deb G 07-31-2010 08:59 PM

Of the 3 sashings, I like the middle one the best.

That is the cutest bear blocks I have ever seen! I like the blue as sashing. Some of the other fabric didn't highlight the blocks but bled into them. The brown also worked but was a little dull. It also looked good without sashing. Just my humble opinon. :-)

Yankee in Texas 08-01-2010 09:21 AM

The blue or the Brown show them off best for your sashing.
Very cute quilt - going to be loved when finished!

Rina 08-01-2010 10:16 AM

Oh Granny, that is sooo nice! I like the blue!

bobolee 08-02-2010 05:55 AM

Very cute. I like the sashing - but the blue one is a little too dark, I think.

juneeloonee 08-03-2010 02:39 AM

I love this design! The bears are so cute and cuddly. I'm not a fan of brown material but I like the brown sashing best as it really makes each bear in bed pop. On the blue all I see is the blue and the orange is in competition with the beautiful beds. (But that's just my opinion.) I would love this pattern. Oh No! Another wish to add to my list! ;)

sewcrafty 08-03-2010 03:19 AM

That is just too cute!!! May have to put in memory bank for whenever I get a GC!

I like it with the sashing, sets off the beds nicely.

quiltergirl80 08-03-2010 03:38 AM

I like the yellow and orange dot sashing or the blue. Definitely use sashing!

livenlearn124 08-03-2010 04:19 AM

I LOVE this quilt!!!
I've been looking for a block pattern to make my 2yr old DGD who was injured recently. She has outgrown her "baby" blanket, and I think this would be a perfect "cuddly" blanket for her.

Where could I find the pattern for this block?
I tried the search option, but couldnt find a pattern.

Thanks for your help!

Grinster 08-03-2010 05:33 AM

Oh these blocks are adorable. My maiden name is Grin (grandfather was from Switzerland). If I had this pattern I would make a quilt called "Grin & Bear It."

Grandma Cindy 08-03-2010 06:01 AM

I like the top half of the first picture. On my computer the colors appear to be alternating brown and yellow. Their bed quilts are so adorable...

Kate 08-03-2010 06:21 AM

I like the sashing. Cute blocks.

reach for the stars 2 08-03-2010 06:23 AM

Hi that is so cute I like it on the blue for sashing

hobo2000 08-03-2010 06:31 AM

Love the idea of attic windows. Just too cute. Maybe you could do a tute for the rest of us when finished.

GailG 08-03-2010 09:11 AM

OK. I can't stand the suspence any longer. How many votes do you need before you decide? What will it be?

sewnsew 08-03-2010 09:15 AM

This is one of the cutest quilts I've ever seen ! You did a great job with it !

 I told everybody on page four or so that I will go for the attic window. Dark brown the vertical, brownish flowers the horizontal part. Already did that and went for nightblue with thiny irregular dots yesterday. Looks like the nightsky and I will add a moon and stars to the border.
Will post as soon I am done.

There is no pattern, just 6" blocks from quilterscache and for the bearheads an embroidery design from allstitching.com. Sashing in form of a bed and that was it. Champagnolle showed an similar quilt earlier and she went just with a picture of one also, so no pattern there either.

thanks to all of your coments

Phewt! Boy, is there egg all over my face. Don't know how I missed it. Going too fast, I suppose. Your final decision sounds great. Can't wait to see it. Good luck.

How adorable! I like the blue.
