I'm assuming the original wedding gown is from the same family. What a lovely tradition! The christening gown and blanket are just beautiful!

Wow so beautiful.

redquilter 11-17-2010 03:35 PM

I have to tell you -I have seen others and they were so awful that I was skeptical. Yours, however is GORGEOUS. The other gowns I saw looked like mini versions of a wedding gown - but yours is just perfect for a baby. And the quilt! WOW! First time I saw one. You did a spectacular job.

magpie 11-17-2010 03:35 PM

Beautiful, I made a baptismal gown from my moms wedding dress. Many babies have worn it already. The wedding gown was from about 55 years ago and I made the baptismal gown 29 years ago. Now we are waiting for great grandchildren to wear it. It is a wonderful thing to have.

clem55 11-17-2010 05:49 PM

I can't think of enough words to say how I feel about your outfit. It is so beautiful ,I almost felt like crying. Isn't that silly?

Beautiful work Janet. Lots of love in those stitches!
I made a christening gown and bonnet for my BFF about 13 yrs. ago. It has been worn by 5 of her grandchildren. Wish I had taken a photo before I delivered it to her. I have only a head/ chest shot of the first child wearing it. Believe it is residing somewhere near Houston now. Was a fun project, bet you enjoyed it also.
