Well, GGD Sara has been taking her Mom's quilt (that I made her) and asking to keep it in her room for 3 days, then back to her mother's room for 3 days. I thought that was a sign that for her 8th birthday, she would have a quilt from me. Here it is, bound and labeled last night, in the washer, and headed to MD tomorrow!!

PS Our Landrum SC guild had a layer cake swap, by color each month. This was made out of those 10" blocks!!

I LOVE it!!!! That is so colorful . How about some pictures of her with it when she gets it. A Disappearing Nine Patch is on my list of quilts that I want to make.

Last year I sent her a quilted jacket, which she opened three days before her birthday. She explained to me that since I sent the package, she just knew it had to be something "Beautiful" and she just couldn't stand to wait until her birthday to see what it was. She wore it to school every day this past year that did not require snow gear!!

Minnie wanted to see the back of the quilt and the label. I did a flip the back over the front instead of strip binding. I did the meandering on my little Husqvarna Freesia 400

The quilt is so perky and beautiful, perfect for a young lady, and the jacket is fantastic. What a boost for the ego, to have someone love something you made so much.

donna873 08-19-2010 03:18 AM

I love it.. that would be a neat way to use up some scraps too.

QuiltingQueen 08-19-2010 03:34 AM

I love it! I have been planning in to make my Granddaugheter an I Spy quilt and saw online how to use the Disappearing Nine Patch but when they rotated they just had a square with frames type pattern.... I just love your secondary pattern!

I think if I used at solid center square and four of the squares another more solid fabric - that secondary pattern would pop! I will save your picture!

Thanks!

Great job on the jacket... she is adorable!

Thank you for the diagrams! Did you do that on EQ? I have the program but haven't really worked on it much.

I was wondering if you could share the pattern for this quilt. It is so beautiful and that little granddaughter seems to be a future quilter. (HeHe) I love the pattern so much and would like to use up some of my quilting fabric.
