Finished one more from my bag of 2.5" blah blocks
4 Attachment(s)
I've been gradually working on the quilt tops that I made last fall out of my 2.5" blocks. I've not finished them all, but I did recently quilt this one. I'm constantly learning. Last year I did my first FMQ and while I have a long ways to go, I'm not the kind of person who wants to just practice on non functional items, so I've taken it on as my goal to practice on quilts that I can give away. This was one of those that I was thinking would end up being a charity quilt.
Here's the top as posted previously: And there is the finished quilt. It is quite large. Thankfully I have a Janome 7700 with a large harp! details: and |
Oh your quilt is wonderful I love it!!!

Wow! Look at you go! Great job! :)
Thanks! I am so pleasantly surprised by how it turned out that I am kind of itching to quilt another one. Don't worry..I've got stacks to quilt. :)

I love it. I have also a Janome 7700, but even following exactly what the manual told (DS1, tension 7, length of the stitch 0, feetdogs down) my uper thread (coton very good quality) is broking very often, and about every 10 point, it jump one point, so the stitching is not regular : something like that : _ __ _ _ _ _ __ . I changed the needle to be sure it was fine, tried size 80, 90... always the same mess! I used a Elna 1 for the parts I could do with, any problem of tht kind. But in the middle, I needed the space given by the Janome arm.
May I ask you if you have tricks !! And excuse my english, i am french. |
Nice scrappy and quilting is great....keep up the good work.
Great job! I love your quilt. Thank you for sharing.

One thing that I found really helps is the white gene washer, another is feed dogs up...some times I cover them and sometimes I dont. I find gutterman works best.

ARe you using a quilting needle? how new is it. If your machine is really clean and the needle is brand new, check with your dealer. (mine told me to slow down.)
This is great! I've been making scrappy 16-patch blocks with an idea of doing something similar. Really love yours.

Your quilt is beautiful and I love the quilting you did on it! Great job with scrappies!!
Really nice quilt, I am always interested in quilts that use the small 11/2" and 2" blocks as I have a bunch. Nice job, someone will really enjoy this quilt.
Your quilting made it spectacular!
Really like this, and love how its quilted!
Absolute stunning quilt!
This is lovely and your FMQ is great! I'd say you no longer have to practice, I think you've got it!
Justflying: Great! I bet it feels good to take the plunge. With you on the don't want to put effort into something that won't be used, I think I concentrate more when its "real".
Your quilt answered a question for me - I was wondering what it would look like if I just quilted the borders around small blocks - and now I know. Yours is wonderful! your quilt is far from blah - it is lovely.

I am taking an online class with leah day and she said to use poleyster thread not cotton and you wont have the breakage i have a 7700 also and it works fine she uses embrodiery thread

Wonderful scrappy quilt. I love how the sashing pulls everything together.
That is just lovely. You did a fantastic job.
Love your quilt, it looks warm and comforting. This would be great in a log cabin!
Sometimes you just have to follow through to the end to see what you have. What you have here is a beautiful quilt. Whether you chose to make it a charity quilt or not, it is still a beautiful quilt.
Actually I love the colors in this quilt. The brown is unexpected and is a compliment to the whole quilt.
