Ugh, done, I quilted the monster yesterday. Everything kind of went to you know where when I added the borders, which rippled, everything was so stretchy. Then I realized one side of backing was too short to flip for cheater binding and I had to add some fabric back on (thank goodness for the print, you really can't tell). I think it'll be good after a wash/dry. The thing that saved me from throwing the whole thing in the garbage was spray adhesive instead of basting/pinning, I love that stuff. I did SITD around some of the pinwheels & just outlined the borders. At any rate, I'm off to deliver it to the fire dept now & I hope it makes them some money & that someone I know wins it for a Christmas gift :)

Anyone else so totally tired of looking at a quilt after you finally finish it? This has got to go, no matter how much I thought I'd want one like it for myself, no way, lol!

I love this quilt! It is beautiful. I have the twister on my Christmas list. Is this quilt made with the small twister or the large one?

magpie 12-03-2010 06:08 AM

It might have been a bear to do but it did turn out very pretty.

Love b/w especially when it's popped with red. You did a fantastic job. I just finshed one that I quilted fine, but had many problems when I sent out to a longarmer (will post story shortly).

I know they will love this quilt!! :-D

WOW - looks so complicated - but very comfy! Hope it raises a lot of money. Thanks for showing this to us.

mommamac 12-03-2010 06:43 AM

This quilt will surely raise lots of $$ for the fire dept. Love the fabrics - esp. the 'flames' of red

You may be sick of it but it's the prettiest one I have seen. Would like to enter the raffle because I would love the quilt. Can't see a thing wrong with it.

nice color choice and pattern design. tfs

one thing with these twisters, they are all on the bias and when putting on boarders you have to really measure thru the middle and make sure you don't get "lettuce leaves" as a quilt teacher once called it. Then it should lay quite flat...

I love it, but it looks really hard to make..beautiful.

aborning 12-03-2010 10:19 AM

I love this quilt. I have made a few of the twister quilts and I made three for xmas presents for nieces. I love how you did the inset piece intthe middle with the borders and how you did the other borders around the edges. I would have not thought of doing that. Looks great.

Beautiful job-I just finished a lap quilt for my husband-it is a hard pattern-to work with-everything must be in order
.

kim_s 12-03-2010 02:05 PM

Lynnie25 12-03-2010 02:33 PM

I love this quilt, oh I just can't wait for my twister tool to arrive in the mail, an early Christmas pressie from me to me :)

It is pretty and yes I too get tired of looking at the same quilt. Earlier this year I made three tops and used the same browns and oranges in all three. I was so tired of them I stuck them in the bottom of a box. Today my gd and dil pulled them out and thought they were pretty. I now have an order for a table runner and a stuffed dog from one of the oranges and one of the browns.

hperttula123 12-03-2010 07:41 PM

it's Wonderful and, actually, the quilt really works with your bedroom. Perhaps you should hang onto it and offer something else to the fire department. lol...

trisha 12-03-2010 09:03 PM

It definitely has that WoW factor. Love it!!!

emptyshellamy 12-04-2010 04:46 AM

Thanks everyone, they liked it too. In fact someone else there tried to talk me into making 3 quilts for her grandkids, lol...she's a friend and it was hard to say no, but I did ;)

I love it!!! Totally inspires me to get out my twisters and make a big one!!! Did you use the small one or the big one on it? Great job!!

ccb2200 12-04-2010 03:23 PM

Very pretty.

lisalisa 12-04-2010 03:40 PM

I think it's quite lovely. I promised a black and white quilt to my bff but haven't gathered up enough fabrics for it yet. She'd probably cut off her left arm for this beauty!
