this is the first i've made that wasn't a panel, envelope turned and crosshatch quilting. this one has actual borders, binding, and a little stippling in the white section. i need alot more practice, but it's kinda nice to come out of my comfort zone.

I'm always amazed when people say this is their first quilt etc and as I scroll down and see it, all I can say is WOW!

ann31039 06-06-2011 07:19 PM

it wasnt hard. just a little involved. the hardest part was transferring the lines for the bias tape. i don't have my lightbox with me so i tried a ironable transfer pencil. it took a whole pencil to to trace the pattern because it kept breaking and the lead was broken inside the pencil. won't do that one again. i'm headed home now and will have my lightbox. should be easier for the next ones.

miss_ticky2 06-06-2011 08:07 PM

Oh...I really like that. Very striking

Wow! Gorgeous. Aren't you glad you stepped out of your comfort zone? In April I took a class with Karen McTavish and she kept repeating this same theme... "always do the hardest thing, you won't be disappointed". Your lovely wallhanging is a perfect example of that theme.
