Your too kind my friend, I know the fabric I need but I think that Makower have stopped producing it - it's called "Ombre Texture" the site I used to buy if from can no longer get it. I like to use this particular one as its cut as a long quarter so you always get from very very light to very dark variation in colour.
I'll keep looking & when I find it I'll let you know, thanks for the offer though Loretta I really do appreciate it. :D

Loretta!
This is gorgeous! May I please play too? I would love to have a copy to try it.

I think it would be good to go with your first instinct of the black border. At least audition it first to see if it is going to give you the effect you want it to. But it sounds pretty.

p.s.) I pm'ed you.

nellie 03-30-2009 03:54 PM

good job :D

Marcia 03-30-2009 06:48 PM

Ooooh, Tisha--I LOVE it!!! You are such a brave girl to tackle this needleturn project and you did great!!! I just LOVE it!! What a cute way to make a geranium. Did I mention that I LOVE it???

I agree with Loretta--you need to make more. :D

You did a fantastic job!! It's gorgeous.

Evelynquilts 03-31-2009 03:21 AM

You did a fantastic job...I would bind it in green...just my opinion... :D

Machel 03-31-2009 03:45 AM

Tisha, You did a beautiful job for your first try. I would love to have the patterns and give it a try myself. Don't give up on one. Could be a WIP and eventualy a quilt itself. Then if it doesn't work then make pillows or something out of it. But I could see you making a beautiful wall hanging or quilt out of it. Keep the spirit going.

Machel

I would do the same green as the border so that focus stays on the beautiful flower. You do great work!

ania755 04-01-2009 06:29 AM

You are doing a great job....its very nice

It's beautiful. Personally, I would do a thin black border, as long as the wall is not a dark color, but think that it would make the french knots stand out. love it!

Carm 04-01-2009 09:35 AM

Wow! Stunning1 I can't wait to see the rest of the blocks!
I too, think that the black border would be best!
Thanks for sharing :D

pennyswings 04-01-2009 11:01 AM

Tisha:
Love the block and I agree with you, the black would make the french knots stand out.

dreamer2009 04-01-2009 04:01 PM

BEAUTIFUL TISHA

JoanneS 04-01-2009 09:52 PM

I'd want to make the work of all those french knots REALLY stand out - go for the black binding!

JoanneS 04-01-2009 09:55 PM

Oh yes - we LOVE pictures!

Janstar 04-01-2009 10:11 PM

Very nice job! If we do the flower block exchange I'd like the patterns too. Is there a Rhodedendron in there? If we do state flowers that's ours. I'll PM you. Thanks!

travlr99 04-03-2009 08:42 PM

absolutely beautiful - why would you want somebodys' butt on this? (cushion cover) Make is a small wallhanging - great for a small place - bathroom, hallway etc.

I know it's been awhile since I added to this thread - here is the second of the nine blocks which is a Lilac, it's not quite finished yet as I have to embroider the veins on the leaves.

quilts again 05-02-2009 05:37 PM

BEAUTIFUL!

pennyswings 05-02-2009 05:49 PM

Tisha´
Wow!! Although different this is just as beautiful as your first one.
By the way, what did you decide to do as a quilt color around the red flowers. I say red flowers because I probably can not spell geraniums, LOL.
I think you have found your niche. I love doing applique work it is so creative. You are doing a wonderful job too. I am drooling and I can't wait to see the next one.

MollieSue 05-02-2009 06:35 PM

Tisha, you say this is needle turned, does that mean every flower petal you've turned the edge under and sewn it down? Wow!!!
The few things I've appliqued, I've just used the wonder under, and stitched around it. And they were much bigger pieces!
Your Lilac is beautiful!!!! :D

LOL Patti

You & I are so alike - DH tells me to sit down before I burn out - he'd soon shout though if his shirts weren't startched & ironed, bless him.

Ah

Thank you Penny
LOL I've still not decided what to do about the border as I had intended to make just the one block, then after being egged on by my friends here decided to go ahead & do another block. I now find myself thinking about doing the remaining 7 blocks. So all in all I may well just put black sashing in between each of the blocks.
If you check back in here in say a year of two you may just see it completed LOL.

Thanks for your comments - the only needle turn is the leaves the flower heads are made using bondaweb ironed onto one side of the fabric when it's cooled & you remove the paper iron fabric onto the other side this really makes the fabric nice & firm. Draw each flower onto the bondawebbed fabric cut out, arrange as desired & sew in place with French Knots. Easy peasy - but very time consumming.
You ought to give it a bash LOL.
