I got brave and tried to do something with triangles rather than squares and rectangles. It appears that I need to get more precise with my measuring and accurate scant 1/4 seams and with pressing the right way. The light colored one was first and is the most "off", so I am forced to keep it for me. Second one is a gift for my daughter. Forgive that I got overly anxious to post and have not bound them yet.

Oklahoma Suzie 10-07-2010 03:41 AM

Very pretty, love the fall colors.

deema 10-07-2010 03:41 AM

They are both beautiful. :)

I have not ventured into the world of triangles yet, but I just got some gorgeous symmetrical repeating patterns and a book that teaches how to cut the pattern into triangles to make snowflakes and a template too...sooo, I'll be going there sooner or later. lol

pocoellie 10-07-2010 03:43 AM

Beautiful fabric and a good job, and I'm sure that the more you practice the better you'll be at triangles.

rootyr 10-07-2010 03:44 AM

Very nice!

Do you mind telling us the name of the book? I think I'd like to get one of them... I like the effect of triangles now that I have gotten started on them. Thanks.

LeeAnn 10-07-2010 03:59 AM

Very pretty! I think you did a great job on both!

Katrine 10-07-2010 04:01 AM

Very nice - they are lovely fabrics too.

wolfkitty 10-07-2010 04:04 AM

Great job on both. I love the second one because it reminds me of pumpkin ice cream! I LOVE pumpkin ice cream.

Kitsapquilter 10-07-2010 04:08 AM

Nice work...that 2nd one is gorgeous...the plaid works so well in there. I like the first one too but the colors are so pretty in that 2nd one. Name of pattern??

cjomomma 10-07-2010 04:18 AM

SharonAnne you did a great job. Have you looked at Rhondas tut on easy HST's? Before I started doing it her way I was having a lot of trouble now I can sit make them all day.

freezeframe03 10-07-2010 04:21 AM

These are really pretty and a great start. I'm just now working on a project with triangles so I know the feeling. Holding my breath a lot...like that's gonna help things line up perfectly.

Chele 10-07-2010 04:33 AM

Thanks. I just checked this out. How easy is THAT? I'll give that a try the next time I venture into triangles. Loved it. Happy Thursday with much appreciation for your tip.

It's not out of a book.. My LQS had a small pattern card laminated for sale (less than the size of a postcard). Decided nothing ventured, nothing gained and this was not a huge investment like a $25 book that I MIGHT use 2 patterns from - lol. I'd be happy to get another and mail it to you. No charge - pay it forward as it is my turn to do that for someone. Please PM me, if you are interested. I have to go to LQS today for secret swap anyway, so it is no trouble.

Evelynquilts 10-07-2010 04:56 AM

I never work with triangles per se if I can help it. Usually sew squares together then cut. Saves stretched sides.
I'm sure your daughter would love either. Both are very pretty.

You are very welcome. I think Rhonda's way of doing things makes the quilting life much easier.

Cjomomma, what did you ever do with the brown and pink batik fabric from Walmart? Just curious. Anne

I haven't been able to touch the quilt I needed it for. While I was waiting for the fabric I started another project so as soon as I am done I will get back to work on mine.

dharen7 10-07-2010 08:29 AM
