First off I want to thank those who helped me figure out the drawing up of my own template. This table mat was so much fun I'm now working on another one that will be made a little different. Am enjoying making this pattern and so decided I would go ahead and purchase a template. No Luck!! Went both north and south to the JoAnn's stores that we have and neither one had them. So guess I will need to wait for that. Margie

I had to order my dresden ruler from Missouri Star Quilt Co. - no one had it around here. Am taking a class after the new year. Love your topper.

butterflywing 12-11-2010 10:27 PM

it's so pretty. and if you did it without a template, why would you need one? there are loads of free patterns on the web and you can cut it out of template plastic, the thin, scissor-cut type.

That is really pretty. I saw that post about how to make your own Dresden Plate templete and when I went back to see it again, I couldn't find it. Sure would like to try it, if it would look as nice as yours.

beautiful..Joanne.com has a free shipping code EYD348..no mininum....might find the template you need...3 days only

crewsemj 12-12-2010 04:54 PM

Thank you ladyshuffler and I replied to your PM.

marcias--I really don't know how to explain what I did. I made my plate first and then folded a piece of newspaper so I could cut out the octagon shape that looked good with the plate and then added the boarders. I'm not real good with everything on this board (am still learning) but I think there is a tutorial for how to make the octagon shape on here. Maybe someone can point you in the right direction. I have found out one thing about this board. Everyone is VERY helpful and "Thank You" for that.

Thank You all for your very kind remarks--went to town today and was able to get some binding to finish the mat waiting for it and will post a picture as soon as that is done.
