First FMQ

This is my first attempt at FMQ. The top was given to me by a family friend, she had chopped part of it out so I cut it down to a lap quilt size.

There are areas that I think I could have done better, but I am happy with it. I did find that my machine does need to go into the shop. After about 15 minutes of quilting the motor was getting hot. I started to think --- It has not had any TLC for over 20 years, I think its time for a check up.

I am still working on getting my binding straight and the same size on each side. If Wilma does not want the lap quilt back I am going to donate it to our local VA hospital.

Yeah for you. Keep at it. It gets easier the more FMQ you do.

It looks great to me. I admire the fact that you even attemped such a FMQ task. I would love to do the same on my machine, but I think I am afraid I will ruin a perfectly good quilt project. I know practice makes perfect but still... If you do get to donate it, it is sure to be well loved by someone.

That is so beautiful, you bid great.

Thank you for all the kind words. Yes it will get donated, I spoke to Wilma this morning she just wants a picture. I have another project of practice blocks that I think I will put together to donate also. It's a lime green, yellow, white and black combination, I know that sounds strange but I think it look kind of cool on my design couch (I have a piece of flannel draped over my love seat). After learning so much on this project, I think I might try the quilt as you go method to put them together to learn something new. I am still trying to find what works best for me and my machine. I will post a picture when I decide which block arrangement I like the best. Again thanks for all the encouragement.
