Great job on your FMQ.

matraina 09-21-2011 09:08 AM

Looks good to me!

ArtsyOne 09-21-2011 09:12 AM

I like it! And I like the quilting pattern against the straight edges of the piecing.

FERSID 09-21-2011 11:14 AM

Everyone is different but when I got the loops on the back I set my tension as high as it would go and used a bobbin washer with a metal bobbin. When I used the plastic bobbin I got the loops. Here's a picture of the washers and I won't do anything without them. Just Google them and it will bring up all sorts of sites where they're available. I found just the right speed and it's easier for me if the machine is running fairly fast. Good luck and keep trying!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I hope he doesn't continue with wanting to paint his room orange! So what part of SEMO did you grow up in? I'm about 20 miles from the Arkansas state line.

KimS 09-21-2011 11:54 AM

I told my son about all the Vols fans here and he said, "They know what team to support." Come to think of it....that kid would bleed orange. LOL!!

KimS 09-21-2011 11:56 AM

Thanks again for all the kind compliments. If it weren't for this group I'd have had no idea how to even start to FMQ. So many great suggestions, support and everybody is willing to try to help!! :-)

Nanaquilts44 09-21-2011 12:29 PM

Beautiful job. He should love it!

Good job; go Vols

VERY IMPRESSIVE. I just bought a free motion quilting foot for my Janome, but the first time I tried using it - well, let's just say it was a mess. I am so impressed with your FMQ.

He has a twin bed but wanted this to be more like a bedspread so it's larger than the usual twin size. While doing this one I learned a lot about fmqing so hopefully I'll remember everything when it's time to do another one. It feels so good when you finish a quilt and can look at the end result. On to the next one. LOL!!!

Love your quilting... can't wait till I can do that!

TracyRenea 09-22-2011 02:18 AM

You should be proud. I want to fmq, but I'm scared.

JanetP 09-22-2011 07:15 AM

First time at FMQ!!! It looks wonderful to me. I'm still trying to get up the nerve to try FMQ.

Go for it! The only thing you stand to lose is some thread until you learn how to do it. :-)

Thanks! :-) You really should just jump in there. Just be patient and practice. Like someone else told me....be sure and breathe. The really funny part is I did find myself holding my breath until I'd stop the machine to reposition my hands. LOL!!

If I can do it so can you. When patience was being handed out I skipped that line because I have none but this was something I really and truly wanted to learn to do. You can do it too!! :-)

Thank you! I really struggled on the side because it was a little difficult to get the quilt scrunched into the throat of my machine but with some persistence it was accomplished. :-)
