ok, I finished this a little while ago. I didn't measure with a ruler or anything from one row to the next and I suppose that would be a good thing to do if it's an important quilt - (in other words, I'll do that from now on 8) :lol: ...maybe)

but for 'eyeballing' it turned out pretty good.

I got some 60wt cotton bobbin thread (Madiera from the Sewphisticated Stitcher: http://www.thesewphisticatedstitcher...ucoboth10.html and it works great
I know people complain about the cost of shipping for thread - this was $6.46 for two spools - and it wasn't nearly as heavy as the big spools from longcreek) All I know is, thread costs boo coo bucks even at wallyworld and bobbin thread is outrageous - something like $8 for a tiny little spool of polyester thread....)

Anyway, here's the quilt and back finished:

I don't think you mentioned what machine you are using. Longarm, midarm, shortarm??
Your panto should have colored dashed lines for the starter row and adjacent rows. After you finish your quilting row, line up your laser light or stylus with the closest line on your adjacent row, then advance your quilt till the laser or stylus lines up with that same exact spot on the quilting line of the pattern. I put tic marks on mine so that they line up perfectly.
Clear as mud? If you would like, the next time I load a quilt I will post it for you.

thanks, all...

I have no intention of quilting for others... for several reasons..

1. remember there is a quilt shop close enough that people can go there and they are VERY VERY reasonable - I had the very nice ladies there do some 4 or 5 quilts for me and they did a great job - but I have so many that when we added it all up it really made sense to get our own outfit (meaning DH and I)
for starters I think it would be really rude to even attempt to compete with them - as DH says, "they are trying to make a living"

2. I don't want *my* machine tied up with somebody else's quilt :!:

3. I've reached the age that I certainly don't want my TIME tied up with somebody else's quilt :!: :!:

4. I have horrible visions of somebody absolutely HATING what I did with their quilt and refusing to pay and possibly even saying *I* have to pay THEM for the fabric etc (in fact, I talked to one of the quilt shop ladies yesterday and she said THEY have the same fear)

5. and no, I wouldn't let anybody else USE this machine either!!

I don't recall anybody saying 'here, use this machine' before we got this!! 8)

Janeen, in another thread I have said that I am willing to allow my friends tocome and bring their quilts to my house, and I will show them how to use the machine. I can't see what they can harm other than break a few needles, and I did that myself. They are not going to be adjusting tension and that sort of thing.

The one condition will be that I have to have the frame free of another quilt and I would never remove a quilt for someone else to use it. It will be on my time schedule. Sometimes I have a quilt on the frame for a week or more before I start quilting, simply because I am busy piecing other quilt tops. I keep things going...all the time. I am afraid life if too short to do all the things I want to get done. I am in a Hurry, hurry and running as fast as old legs will carry me.
