I made my first quilt @ 25 years ago. I finally began quilting again this summer, and just finished my first quilt. I made this quilt to be donated to www.QuiltsForKids.org and will be sending it in shortly.

It is machine pieced and quilted. I picked the fabric myself (rather than ask the charity to send me the fabric).

There are many minor mistakes, but I don't think a typical child will notice it or care.

love it! looks nice & snuggly. Do you need someone to try it out? I am "quality control' around my house & I sleep with each & every quilt I make before I give them away!

Sweetness 01-05-2011 08:21 PM

very pretty, it will definately be loved & i think i'm a typical adult & don't see the problems ;) it's perfect for a boy too and sometimes i think they get left out of more manly quilts as we often like the pretty, bright, cutesy stuff.

I really like your quilt, you did a fantastic job of quilting it!

Fantastic straight line quilting. Curves are easy. Straight lines and echoed straight lines are difficult. You mastered the technique. Well done.

Kitsapquilter 01-05-2011 11:40 PM

That is a very nice quilt. What mistakes...I don't see any! Love the quilting you did on it too. Makes the back look nice as the front!!

jackied 01-05-2011 11:43 PM

Looks really good to me. Minor mistakes don't count! Glad you are back into quilting. I've got one planned, just need a jump start!

BizzieLizzie 01-05-2011 11:54 PM

Beautiful! I couldn't see anything symbolising a mistake! It is gorgeous and I love the quilting too! Well, you have done well to complete something started out 25 years ago!!

I purposely looked for colors/patterns that might appear to a boy in his early teens. It was much harder to pick that out than for a young boy or girl of any age.

Thank you for all the wonderful comments!

That is so neat. I, too, sleep with my quilts before I give them away to add more of my energy to them.
