What a happy quilt! I am so pleased for you. I believe the most important thing for a first project is finishing it! You did a wonderful job...keep it up!

Thanks for looking.

Nope,...I'd leave it too---it's your first one! Congratulations! Go get into your stash and start the next one :)

Homemother 03-27-2011 04:55 AM

LOL! Ask the quilt board participants how many have NOT put the boarder on their quilts!!! You've completed your quilt and it is darling! I agree - leave the boarder.

Have you seen this boarder tute? I did it and it's easy to follow. Solved my boarder problems, especially the problem of getting the boarder on the quilt!

Good job

ConcreteSher 03-27-2011 05:03 AM

It looks great--don't change it. I still have one of my first quilts, and it's great to be able to look back and see how I have improved.

girlsfour 03-27-2011 05:15 AM

Cute! Like the colors.

I agree, very pretty and it doesn't look bad at all. You should be very proud of your accomplishment.

For a beginner, you are off to a good start. Your quilt is lovely.

puck116 03-27-2011 06:16 AM

It's beautiful. Keep the binding as is. Later it will be nice to look back on this quilt to see how you have improved. This I know.

ChildoftheUniverse 03-27-2011 06:24 AM

It's great! I'm learning to like the brilliant colors so much. It puts fancy and whimsical into each piece... good work.

dinlauren 03-27-2011 06:25 AM

Awwwww what a sweet baby quilt. You did a great job.

stitchingcrazy 03-27-2011 07:01 AM

Great first quilt. I admire your choice of fancy stitches around the border. Show us your next one won't you?

grannypat7925 03-27-2011 07:12 AM

You are off to a good start. Don't be discouraged. bindings take practice.

grandma anna 03-27-2011 08:35 AM

Very cute I would leave it the way it is the first one is always the one you are most critical of (or at least I was) but it looks fine to me.

shopaholic97 03-27-2011 09:11 AM

I agree with everyone else leave the binding. You should see my 1st quilt

GABBYABBY 03-27-2011 09:15 AM

You did a fabulous job!!!! Love the colors too.

Homespun 03-27-2011 09:33 AM

Cute quilt-=-love the special stitches I see around..

lillybeck 03-27-2011 10:17 AM

Leave it just as it is and you will go back to it many times as your first. Sometimes my binding still looks like that.

teacherbailey 03-27-2011 11:05 AM

I love it, and agree: leave it alone so years from now you can look back and see it, and know how far your skills have come!

SewExtremeSeams 03-27-2011 11:08 AM

Love your quilt and the colors are gorgeous. Personally, I would leave the binding in. It is, afterall, your first quilt.

Bindings have always seemed to be my downfall. Since I found this tutorial on Connecting Threads, I think my bindings have improved. So, I thought I would share it with you. I just took it really slow the first time with the directions written down, sitting in front of me. Sometimes I have to talk myself through things the first time. Hope this helps. :-D

Very cute- great colors!

lbc 03-27-2011 11:21 AM

It's fun to keep your first quilt for comparison down the road to see how much you have learned--that being said, you did an awsome job for a "first".

Dianne1 03-27-2011 11:22 AM

It is a special quilt, great colors. I agree with you and would re-do the binging. If you don't the quilt ghost will haunt you.

Taughtby Grandma 03-27-2011 12:13 PM

I really like the happy colors, great job for your first one, congratulations.

GloBug 03-27-2011 12:49 PM

Cute as a bug, First quilts are so special.

vwquilting 03-27-2011 01:23 PM

I love the quilt. You did a great job. I think the problem with the binding it it needed to be pinned better before you stitches. Either way it is your 1st quilt enjoy the fruits of your labor.

gramquilter2 03-27-2011 02:22 PM

Nice job for your first quilt, nice bright colors.
Leave the binding it will be a treasure as you grow as a quilter.

JCL in FL 03-27-2011 03:26 PM

You did a good job. Everybody has a first quilt and I'd say yours is very pretty and one you will always treasure. Binding is really very easy and my favorite part. There are several good tutorials on binding on line, take a look see and you'll be ready next time.

Mazda 03-27-2011 03:30 PM

butterflies5518 03-27-2011 04:38 PM

This looks great, my first had a block turned the wrong way!

PattyS 03-27-2011 06:03 PM

Love the colors. If you are happy with it that is all that matters. Quilt police are not allowed!

4girlsmimi 03-27-2011 06:10 PM

Pretty, bright colored quilt. Looks good for your 1st quilt. Thanks for sharing it.

CONGRATS ON YOUR 1ST QUILT - Love your colors L. Don't try to change it - always be proud of your work. On future quilts you will remember the little things you thought you should change & will have learned from them. In years to come you will have it to see how you've grown in your new talent (& you WILL grow)

Many blessing & welcome to the quilting world - you will soon be an "addict" like many of us here. Hugs

cctx. 03-27-2011 08:38 PM

lass 03-28-2011 04:17 AM
