I started this sampler right after Christmas this year. It was my reintroduction into quilting. It is from a book I found at the public library. I am sorry I did not write down the name of the book or the author. I will try to find out and post later. It was a great instructional tool and the author deserves all the credit. I don't think the blocks were original to her but her instructions were easily followed. I saved the quilting until now because it was a smaller piece and would transport well. I started handquilting it in Texas before I left home. Continued in northern Indiana while on the job site with my husband and in Illinois while caring for my mom. I just finished it while watching my three grandchildren in southern Illinois. I think I will name it "Trail of Joy" because it brought me so much joy as I took it from place to place. It may find a home in Illinois either with my daughter or niece. Thanks for looking!

What a lovely way to feature different sampler blocks. I like the way you did the sashing with the 9patch blocks inserted. You did a beautiful job.
Beautiful!

Thanks, Kayquilt. I name of the book was The Big Book of Quilting. It is a compilation of 4 previously published books. The one I used to create this quilt is called The Essential Guide of Practically Perfect Patchwork Quilt by Michele Morrow Harer. I renewed it twice which is the limit and then my husband checked it out once for me. Good information for inexperienced quilters.

Very pretty, I think I'll do a samp;er, that way I get to do all the blocks I admire.
I agree! There are so many blocks that look fun to make and I couldn't possible make each into a quilt. I plan to make one year from now on.
Very colorful! I like it!! Great job!!!Welcome back to quilting!!

Beautiful. love your colors
Thanks everyone. I have to bind it yet. That is my least favorite part of the qilting process. I think I will use a red binding that matches the border. What do you think?

Your Sampler is beautiful, I love all the different blocks and your choice of colors. A also like your story about how you quilted it.
What a beautiful quilt. The memories it induces are worth more than words.
Remeber to put a label on the back with a brief description of its making, for the long term recipient to read. I make my labels of the computer and print them on fabric then stitch them to a back corner. In small font and using colour the label will not detract from the fabric. Remember to put washing instructions in the the label as well. I love sampler quilts. So many varieties of blocks and so many colours and patterns available you couild almost spend a lifetime and not make the same quilt twice. |
I like the quilt and I like the quilt's name.
Love your colours!
I really love the colors and blocks you chose. And the white really makes them pop! Beautiful!

I adore the old patterns and love hand-work also. But I don't know too many people who love doing the binding LOL :D |
Very Pretty, glad you were able to spend time w/those you love. :)
