no problem, bev.. I might not be that great at explaining what I did differently, but I tried. I just am learning as I go with quilting, since I haven't done it all that long. I did counted cross stitching for 26 years ( was on complete bed rest in my first pregancy with my daughter ) , but now my eyesight has deteriorated to not being able to use even a light, and magnifier.. I had to pick up another hobby, and for some reason I saw a quilt in a store and thought " I can do that"... and set about trying to figure out how, and I did.. the rest is history now, and I have just fallen heads over heels in creating quilts for either my family, or the baby donation quilts I do for the local pregancy center here. So, when I have fabric, or clothes I can cut up, I love creating things.. Makes me feel like I am still able to accomplish things, and bring a smile, or a blessing to those I give gifts too, ya konw?

After many trials and errors, and resewing, it finally worked for me.. I have actually taught my daughter how to make one using how I laid out the strips, and which seam to unpick from that layout.. She doesnt quilt , but has made just one wallhanging using the bargello pattern.. She says shes going to leave me to the quilting, lol, because shes a gardener and likes to create that way.. and believe me, she creates very well in her backyard! haha.. even with 4 little honeypunkins that are running around! ( My grandkids are my honeypunkins! )

I know it probably wasn't as hard as the instructions said to some quilters, but for me, it just didn't make sense.. I love scrappy quilts, so when I have fabric to use ( not always having that, since I can't purchase any right now ), my stand by for quilt pattern is the bargello.. just so fun, and never looks bad , no matter how ugly the fabric, or cut up clothes I use.

Sounds to me like you did it the way it was explained to me, so I guess the original instructions would have been confusing to me as well. Thanks.
