Love, love this type of quilt. I have done several of these, but use muslin or some kind of cheap fabric for the foundation. Don't like to tear out paper so much. That is going to make a beautiful quilt.

Love your colorful blocks. Strip blocks are my favorite. I just finished piecing two strip quilts for the "Passage Program" at our local hospital. Hope to share pictures when they come back from the quilter

Your scrappy squares are beautiful. I did the same thing but did it on a backing and batting in all blues for my first QAG.

I wonder why a foundation is used. Is there some advantage to making string blocks on a foundation? I know I am not planning on removing paper from 80+ blocks but just curious. If you use a muslin foundation are you able to press your seams either to the side or open? sak658 are you pressing your seams open or to the side? I found that when I lined up a couple of my blocks to check seams I had pressed to the side. there was too much bulk as some of my seams in different blocks came together. So once I finish making my string blocks, I will sit (for hours I'm sure) and press all of my seams open. |
Your blocks are beautiful, keep up the good work. They will make a beautiful quilt one day. I do have to ask though - are they like potato chips, you can't stop with just one?
