I took Leah Day's online Building Blocks FMQ lessons and here is my finished quilt. MANY mistakes, but I learned so much! Quilted on my vintage Singer 15-91.

Looks fine to me. Quilting is just the cooking. The more you make, the better you become.

RedGarnet222 03-16-2015 11:45 AM

Kudos on finishing your lovely quilt with all those new patterns you learned. Great work!

DebraK 03-16-2015 12:12 PM

Great learning quilt. You can be very proud of what you accomplished.

KenmoreGal2 03-16-2015 12:33 PM

Wow, that's fantastic!!

BrendaK 03-16-2015 12:39 PM

WOW. I think that you did great. Congratulations. BrendaK

QuiltnNan 03-16-2015 01:45 PM

looks terrific from here

Sharonquilts 03-16-2015 01:56 PM

I think you did a good job. I've given up on FMQ's for a while. No matter how much I practice I can't get a consistent stitch length. I'm learning to quilt curves with my walking foot now and that is going well.

RainyBC 03-16-2015 02:35 PM

Your quilting looks fabulous to me. Great job on your beautiful quilt.

Painiacs 03-16-2015 03:04 PM

,wow! That is terrific! I just can't get the hang of it, can do straight line stuff on my 15-91 for baby quilts but that's it I send big ones out I get too frustrated I'm very impressed with what you did!!!!

Doggramma 03-16-2015 03:34 PM

I think it's fabulous! It looks like you did the quilt-as-you-go she talks about too. It's just great.

Homemother 03-17-2015 03:08 AM

You are LEAPS ahead of those of us who started on our own! Your quilting is fabulous! Your confidence level must be sky high and thus we will see more FMQ from you! Can't wait!

elly66 03-17-2015 03:22 AM

From one beginner to another- it's wonderful quilting. You did a great job. Wish mine looked as good:)

MarionsQuilts 03-17-2015 03:37 AM

Fabulous job!!!!! I have just started with FMQ myself and my first attempt looked nothing like yours! Congrats! You are a natural!

twinkie 03-17-2015 04:07 AM

I think you did a great job.

Jingle 03-17-2015 04:40 AM

faykilgore 03-17-2015 12:25 PM

That's an impressive project for "first effort." Makes my shoulders hurt just looking at it. I don't see a single mistake, but I do see some fantastic quilting patterns!

lynnie 03-17-2015 12:37 PM

came out great for a first try!!

audsgirl 03-17-2015 04:30 PM

What a super job you did! I like the concentric circles. They look hard to do. Congratulations!

Leslie

Your quilting looks marvelous!!!! You must be a really fast learner!!!!!

Learning2Quilt 03-18-2015 02:46 AM

I only hope my first attempt turns out half as good. Yours looks great.

jmoore 03-18-2015 03:19 AM

I would say it looks like you're getting the hang of it rather quickly... especially if that was your first time!

Did you quilt it on your domestic machine? Great job...

jonese 03-18-2015 03:41 AM

Love love your quilt! I joined this forum because I am trying to teach myself to fmq. Your quilt has inspired me to keep practicing. Thank you for sharing

A very fun sampler quilt, with great quilting designs!! :)

#1piecemaker 03-18-2015 08:22 AM

Nice job!! I like Leah Day's tutorials.

MargeD 03-18-2015 08:59 AM

You did a great job. To quote Rob Ross, a TV painting instructor: "There are no mistakes, just happy accidents." Try not to be so hard on yourself, after all you finished an entire quilt with your FMQ. I think I learn something on every quilt I make.

hopetoquilt 03-18-2015 09:22 AM

Now you have me convinced to take the class

tlpa 03-18-2015 10:20 AM

I have a 15-91 and thought it would be great at FMQ. What foot did you use, and where can I get one?
Thanks!

matraina 03-18-2015 12:03 PM

tt's just lovely!

maryellen2u 03-18-2015 12:48 PM
