"Flames" Stack & Whack Quilt
3 Attachment(s)
I made this throw size quilt for my son (52 X 76), he's 6'3". I got the idea for the layout from a baby quilt posted by dhanke, thanks Diane, your quilts are beautiful. It took me a while to make. I straight stitched diamond shapes around the squares parallel with the hexes and meandered in ALL the black areas in the borders and hexes. I love the patterns that each hex made. My son really likes it. Thanks for looking :)

awesome quilt..... I love the stack and whack!!!! I never would have thought of doing it with the flames.. I'll have to remember this~~~
|
Beautiful stack n whack Donna! It is so amazing how much diversity you can get from a relatively simple print. I would never have thought that flames would result in such fabulous blocks. I have fabric pulled from my stash for several snw quilts, now all I need is time

That is a seriously eye-popping quilt. I love the way the flame fabric worked in the SNW - would not have thought of that myself. That is one hot quilt!! Great work on the quilting too!

Wowser! I know all the hexes came from the flame fabric, but your vision makes them come alive - I can't imagine how hard you had to work to make them all come out so gloriously.

Isn't it interesting how different the blocks can look when the original fabric doesn't seem to have a lot of variation? It's fabulous!
