Beautiful !! I had a couple blankets like this when my son was a baby....my favorite baby gift. They are really nice.

Katia 09-19-2011 12:52 PM

So nice. Makes me want to learn to crochet.

Chicca 09-19-2011 01:04 PM

That is wonderful! The crochet edging adds an extra softness to the already cuddly quilt. Thank you for sharing.

Love this blanket!! My dh's grandmother always made this kind of blanket for baby gifts. I have several she made my kiddos..some out of flannel, others out of plisse and seersucker.

I had one of these for my DD. I don't even remember who gave it to me.(A friend of my DMIL I'm sure.) DD is 28 now. I loved it!! :-)

Looks soooo cuddly, the crochet edge is pretty. I'm gonna have to learn to crochet one of these days.

cherylynne 09-19-2011 01:35 PM

I've made this kind of blanket, but it was only one big piece of fleece. Your little quilt is very nice.

blueangel 09-19-2011 01:36 PM

Nice

Wonderful quilt with that vintage edging.

lynn7448 09-19-2011 03:03 PM

Yes, I cut and sewed the 4 pieces together to make the same layout for the top and the bottom and then added the crochet edge. It just adds some extra pizzaz versus one solid piece of flannel. But, to each their own, as I am sure all recipients would love these whether they are pieces or one solid piece per side.

That blanket is really, really cute. I love the idea of the four different fabrics. The shell stitch crochet edging is so sweet. Nice work.

Very sweet. Would that make a great receiving blanket.

thimblebug6000 09-19-2011 04:41 PM

It's really cute, but can't quite figure out how you were able to crochet through a doubled flannel for your edging?

debbieumphress 09-19-2011 04:43 PM

Beautiful work and I love the quilt. Thank you for sharing it with us on the QB. I love to see what everyone else is working on and the different techniques.♥♥

I originally tried to use the skip stitch rotary blade, however, it would not cut through the two layers of flannel. I ended up using a dental tool that was much like an awl to poke the hole through the two layers. I then pushed the crochet hook through the holes in both layers to pull the yarn through.

Granny Quilter 09-19-2011 06:58 PM

I like it. Is the flannel 2 thicknesses or 1?

You know,i think a wing needle would work for the holes.Or do you think the hole would be to small?Connie in CO

lynn7448 09-20-2011 04:57 AM

Sorry, but I do not know what a wing needle is or how large of a hole it would make.

Tweety2911 09-20-2011 05:36 AM

Sweet!

Connie in CO 09-20-2011 05:47 AM

A wing needle is a needle that has these flat things on each side of the needle.Martha Pullen makes baby gowns and uses that kind of needle.Your way is probably the best way.Your blanket they will use and save.

JoyjoyMarie 09-20-2011 05:55 AM
