Someone gave me a box of floral fabric long time ago. I saw this quilt somewhere and I decided to do a king size utilitarian quilt for my bed, machine pieced and quilted on a regular size Jenome ( I will never machine quilt another king size quilt!). I pieced the backing with more floral fabric, I like the end result, but I still have a box full of floral fabric.

Barb_MO 04-11-2015 09:47 AM

Wow! That is a pretty quilt. wish someone would give me that amount of fabrics. I might not have to buy fabrics for years.

QuiltnNan 04-11-2015 09:52 AM

nicely done

tucsonquilter 04-11-2015 10:37 AM

Beautiful! What size did it finally come out? I want to make a King size but I want the sides to hang down like yours.

quiltingcandy 04-11-2015 10:58 AM

That looks wonderful! I love patchwork quilts like yours. You did a great job. That is a fantastic collection of floral prints. Were they saving for a watercolor quilt?

nannyrick 04-11-2015 11:09 AM

That is an awesome quilt!!! You did an amazing job.

FURBALLS 04-11-2015 11:26 AM

That is really pretty. I am drawn to floral prints. Perhaps I should do something like that. I really love it.

bmillet 04-11-2015 11:53 AM

I love your quilt..very beautiful. If you are trying to get rid of the fabric, please feel free to send it to me. You can reach me at [email protected]. I'm always in need of fabric :-)

WisWis 04-11-2015 11:57 AM

Lovely quilt-that was quite a task to quilt it. Well done.

You made a wonderful quilt. It looks like Spring has sprung ....

QUILTNMO 04-11-2015 12:58 PM

great job very pretty!!!

donnajean 04-11-2015 01:08 PM

Love your quilt. I'm picturing you pulling that quilt through your sewing machine. I don't know how you did it.

My friend challenged us to use only floral fabric and a background if needed. I had a large heavy Rubbermaid bin full of florals. I have now made six large floral quilts and have given away many floral strips with my favourite floral pattern and I still have a large heavy bin of florals in addition to the dozens of 3 1/2" floral strips that I have cut. Do floral fabrics grow in the night?

These pretty floral quilts -- like your lovely one -- always remind me of nap time at grandma's, perhaps out on the screened porch. :)

Your quilt is beautiful. I love florals too. They make wonderful watercolor quilts

PenniF 04-11-2015 03:00 PM

Oh yes....this is such a romantic, nostalgic, cozy, wonderful quilt. I would never have thought to put those florals all together this way - but my gosh.....it is just SO pretty !!!

tessagin 04-11-2015 03:07 PM

Reminds me of the quilts my grandmother had on her beds. Love the different prints.

JuneBillie 04-11-2015 06:10 PM

This quilt is so pretty. I love the floral, and the simplicity of the patch work. :)

Grandma Peg 04-11-2015 06:10 PM

Very pretty good.

It turned out nice! I made some charity quilts with florals--they are also pretty (not only as charity quilts--just pretty for use with florals.) Here's one idea. If you already have cut squares, it would go together quickly.

very springlike. good job.

Annaquilts 04-11-2015 10:55 PM

Very nice! I sometimes wonder what to do with all those older florals. This looks great. Thanks for sharing. You did a great job with the fabrics and the quilting. It is a beautiful quilt.

earthwalker 04-12-2015 01:35 AM

You did a great job....I have a lot of florals too, must get them out and do something with them.

jmoore 04-12-2015 02:33 AM

very pretty... what a great way to use up your floral scraps. It looks very nostalgic, something from years past, very comforting and inviting. I can understand your apprehension of quilting another king on your DM but from your photo, it looks like you were successful on this one! Beautiful job.

mcdaniel023 04-12-2015 02:55 AM

Love floral fabric and really love your quilt!

twinkie 04-12-2015 03:46 AM

It will always be spring in your room. Very nice.

annette1952 04-12-2015 03:50 AM

Beautiful scrappy quilt

Nanoo 04-12-2015 04:01 AM

Thank you so much for the inspiration of what to do with some of my florals. I love fabric and buy like a fiend, but then I get it home and in the stash and wonder what to do with it.

Kris P 04-12-2015 04:10 AM

pretty quilt. It reminds me of quilts my mom made for us. It is surprising how little fabric a large quilt actually takes, isn't it?

Karamarie 04-12-2015 04:11 AM

I love quilts made of squares. To my thinking the first quilts must have been made of squares. Great job.

dlsnaples 04-12-2015 04:18 AM

I LOVE you floral fabrics. They always remind me of spring time, they are a soothing image.
you did a great job putting yours together. The quilting compliments the fabric. I imagine many happy dreams sleeping under that quilt.

stitchingcrazy 04-12-2015 04:36 AM

Ooooh, that makes me feel all warm and cosy. It's lovely, just right in a Cornish Cottage bedroom, with the sound of the stormy sea crashing against the shore.

solstice3 04-12-2015 04:42 AM

Lovely. I can't imagine quilting it on a regular machine. I have enough to trouble doing a full on my tiara

Homespun 04-12-2015 04:55 AM

Simple but gorgeous...love it!

ontheriver 04-12-2015 05:01 AM

WOW, so sweet and simple but stunning. I am draw to any floral quilts, maybe because I love flowers but can't grow a thing. Love yours.

Love it I wish some one would give me a beautiful box like that.

Mariposa 04-12-2015 05:43 AM
