I envy you living near Lyme Regis. I fell in love with it in 1968 on my 1st trip to England. As for seagulls, despite their sometimes unpleasant habits, they are beautiful birds, your husband took a perfect photo, and you interpreted it beautifully.
Thank you Joanne. Just wanted to say too that you look so pretty in your avatar! :-D I love Lyme, it's one of my favourite places in the world, and I chose to bring us here partly to be close to it. You know the film The French Lieutenant's Woman was filmed there? The famous scene of Meryl in her hooded cloak, gazing out to sea? That was at the end of the Cobb which is a stone jetty pointing out into the sea - well the weather was so rough while they were filming, they had to bolt a wooden post to the Cobb then lash her to the post. The post is gone but you can still see the bolt holes in the stones. :-D
Regarding gulls in general - I agree with the lady from Florida, it's people that make them a pest. Not the birds fault.
I sympathise with you Omak though, in England they did the same with starlings and there are zillions of them causing farmers the same problem. :-( It's a matter of striking a balance I suppose. :-D

Thank you everyone. I did a talk last night to the local Woman's Institute (my first public speaking - really enjoyed it!) and they particularly loved this seagull. His feathers got a lot of stroking but they sttod up pretty well!
