Oh, I think you should do it again! It's such a pretty quilt, and you did a wonderful job! :D  :D

To make it easier next time, you could try machine basting the entire quilt first. Then, go back and do stitch in the ditch between all of your blocks. Now that the quilt is nice and stable, you will have more fun doing your pretty leaves and flowers! Just remove the basting stitches in each block as you decide to work on it...

I hope you do more quilts --- your color choices are great!

I know how hard it is to quilt on a regular machine; It's very hard. You did a terrific job and you should be proud of it. Looks awesome.

ChildoftheUniverse 08-11-2011 06:02 AM

Monika 08-11-2011 06:28 AM

It's beautful!!!

sewbizgirl 08-11-2011 06:29 AM

Looks great! Was that with or without a walking foot? I don't have one, but hope that when I get one it will make my quilting easier and better.

Jingle 08-11-2011 06:38 AM

I FMQ this size all the time, I don't try to get fancy, just do a large stipple. Don't give up, just save the fancy work for the borders or outside edges of the center. It will become easier.

ej180 08-11-2011 06:39 AM

You did a good job! I'm currently undertaking my first queen fmq'ing job myself. So I'm with you on boy I'll probably never do this again either!

shirley35 08-11-2011 06:44 AM

Love your quilt and the backing fabric. I made a blue & brown for my DD and husband using almost the same backing. I think it's so pretty. I FMQ on my machine also and with the bigger quilts I'v been doing them in three parts and then sewing the three sections together. It's a pain but so much easier quilting.

Conniebury 08-11-2011 06:46 AM

Beautiful quilt!

hudgoddess 08-11-2011 07:13 AM

And that story is why I'm on a quilting strike! Fortunately, I'll be able to buy a long arm at the end of the year. So for now, I'm putting tops with their backs and prepped binding strips on hangers in my closet. I still get to piece and I'll have plenty to practice on when I get my machine.
I HATE wrestling with a quilt!

labug 08-11-2011 07:24 AM

Beautiful

grammatjr 08-11-2011 07:32 AM

Looks great! Maybe next time do it sort of Quilt As You Go, so not all is under the machine at a time. It will be less heavy.

BECOOLWRAPS 08-11-2011 07:45 AM

THIS IS LOVELY - HOPE TO SOMEDAY TRY FMQ, BUT FOR NOW I'LL JUST ENJOY YOURS.

sniktasemaj 08-11-2011 08:07 AM

When I quilted a king sized quilt on my machine, I did it in 2 pieces and then joined them. I could never have got the bulk of that quilt through the machine otherwise. If I do it again, I might do 1/4 th at a time and then join.

macygma 08-11-2011 08:11 AM

very pretty I love the colors and you did good! from another Coloradoan

LyndaOH 08-11-2011 08:15 AM
