FMQ Oops

I am practicing my orange peel quilting on some placemats. I am trying to get better at stopping with the needle down but not taking an extra stitch. An extra stitch can cause little knots of the intersections. I flipped it over to see how I did....not bad except:D

That looks great...for most of it. But that looks like it will be an easy fix. I start stopping 2 stitches ahead of where I want the machine to stop. It could be just that I'm slow.

Oops.
Been there, done that. Watson |
Nice quilting! I just did the exact same thing on my latest quilting project. Very very annoying. I tell myself to watch out on the edges and I still did it! At least it's not too much to rip out.

Looks like you've mastered the orange peel. That one little oops should be easy to fix.

Tartan, great quilting, love the consistency of the width of your curves but don't you have an option to set your needle to stop in the down position??
|
Yes I do have it set for needle down but I am trying to train myself to step off the gas pedal when I am not moving the sandwich or it will stitch in place a couple of times.
|
If you do a cathedrel window and quilt in the edge of the fold backs you get the same pattern. Didn't realise it was called orange peel.

Your quilting looks great. That little boo boo will take hardly any time to fix.
