Fold n stitch bloom

4 Attachment(s)
These are my latest projects using the Poorhouse Fold N Stitch patterns. This project is called BLOOM. It is made with hexies instead of squares and is smaller in diameter. The pattern refers to it as a candle mat. I made the "Bee" one for a store sample for my LQS. It's the QUEEN BEE QUILT SHOPPE, and I thought bees and hexie fabric would be appropriate. Here's a link to the pattern.

Lovely! I really need to get this pattern.

Tartan 05-14-2016 09:01 AM

I think I like it even better then the original fold and stitch. Great candle mats!

Mariposa 05-14-2016 09:08 AM

Great candle mats!

erindipity 05-14-2016 09:11 AM

Very pretty! I just ordered the stabilizer, fold n stitch wreath and bloom patterns---can't wait to get them. Hope mine come out as cute as yours did.

soozieQ 05-14-2016 11:37 AM

Gorgeous love the colours

Geri B 05-14-2016 08:53 PM

OH, that is cute, but I really hate to have to buy another pattern.....maybe I'll just try to " wing" it.

Jane Quilter 05-14-2016 10:24 PM

I love it......And I want the Black and white bee fabric......(I have the yellow in my stash from years ago). Do you have the selvage/manufacturers info? These are beautiful candle holders. I've never seen anything like them. Beautiful work.

DOTTYMO 05-14-2016 10:35 PM

I have the pattern and have made one section. I'm not happy with the stiffening I used still looking for a good stabiliser. Yours look fantastic.

twinkie 05-15-2016 03:32 AM

Those are real clever, They turned out great.

quilterpurpledog 05-15-2016 04:25 AM

Beautiful projects. I hope to do some soon.

janice1120 05-15-2016 04:57 AM

What kind of stabilizer did you order. I want to make one of these. Thanks.

Sorry, but if you are asking about the black and white bee fabric, I used what was in my stash from several years ago. I looked everywhere online and at local stores and couldn't find it anywhere. I had just barely enough of it to use for the smaller appliqué hexies.

I just used the fusible batting, and it was very easy to work with. It is much softer than what we use in the wreath pattern. It has to be more flexible because you have two folds to make and stitch together. If you look at the picture you'll see that there is a tiny fold in the center, that is done first. Then you open the sides to stitch those together.

I just used the fusible batting that the pattern requires. It's very easy to work with, since there's a couple folds in this pattern...not just one fold like the wreath pattern has.

Love your take on the bloom. To my eye the hexie looks more like a bloom! Well done. Where do we find the pattern?

JanieH 05-15-2016 09:38 AM

I really like this wreath, I think, even more than the original.
Thank you for including the link - I just ordered the pattern!

callen 05-15-2016 10:05 AM

Love your mats. I have the pattern & am anxious to get at it but I have read where the instructions are somewhat difficult to understand. Haven't read them myself but I sure hope they're not hard. Love both styles & all of yours are beautiful. I can only hope to do such a good job.

This pattern is easier to follow than the wreath pattern. Give it a try, and if you have problems, just PM me.

Betty J 05-16-2016 03:24 AM

I have the pattern for the Fold'n Stitch Wreath and I am yet to try it. Your mats look really super.

copycat 05-16-2016 03:54 AM

Wow!! and wow again. Beautiful and beautiful again! Great photos. Thanks for sharing and posting the pattern link.

Grandma Peg 05-16-2016 04:05 AM

Really like both if them.

indymta 05-16-2016 02:19 PM

Love your mats! I have the original pattern and I must get busy making one now that I've seen how pretty
yours are.

BrendaK 05-16-2016 03:36 PM

Love it. I have the other pattern but I love yours, so I ordered this pattern. Thanks for the link. Here's hoping that mine turn out as nice as yours. BrendaK

Both of them are really great.

Surfergirl 05-18-2016 05:13 AM

Beautiful candle mat. I, also, think I like this one better than the original wreath pattern.

dreamboat 11-12-2016 09:23 PM

it looks to me like it a 6 sided hexigan. then you can figure it out by looking at the picture.

BrendaK 11-13-2016 12:05 AM

Beautiful. I see the crystals on the bee wreath what are the red circles on the R/W/B one? You have again done an amazing job. BrendaK

Thanks, Brenda! Actually the red dots are a fancy stitch choice on my machine. I played around with it to make the stitches wider and closer together.
