Folded wreath

Saw this on this site, but when I searched for patterns, they were all paper and would take ages to get to UK, and I wanted it now. I took a guess and used 5' square, had to move my stitch lines a couple of times but got it sussed eventually, I love this to surround my candles. The fabrics were left over from Christmas projects but my decor is beige with reddish sofa and dining chairs so fits in with colour scheme.

Great job -- looking really good and you don't have to wait 'till Christmas to enjoy. I've been toying with the idea of one done in spring florals to greet spring.

ManiacQuilter2 01-04-2016 06:32 AM

You did a wonderful job making this center piece.

Tartan 01-04-2016 07:01 AM

Very cute! I saw several on Pinterest last night and even a pattern that someone had worked out.

Tapraol 01-04-2016 07:07 AM

So pretty! I love it, nice colors.

QuiltnNan 01-04-2016 07:41 AM

nicely done

gingerd 01-04-2016 03:10 PM

Fantastic! I have the pattern. It calls for appliquéing your red onto the square. Did you do that? I'm trying to figure out a way to make this without appliqué.

Thanks

lynnie 01-04-2016 03:17 PM

I love this and want to make one for myself. it would be a pain to ship, I imagine.

Merrylin 01-04-2016 07:30 PM

Really nice! You did a great job.

quiltingshorttimer 01-04-2016 08:01 PM

that's neat! haven't seen anything like it before and I like the 3D!

Stevensgirl 01-04-2016 08:21 PM

That came out lovely!

smagruder 01-05-2016 03:44 AM

I pinned this on Pinterest and I have lost count of the number of people who have pinned it from me. I can't wait to make one, or two, or three. Lol. Yours is so pretty. Great job.

Couldnt you just cut that beige square larger, then wrap it over the red as the binding?

Maureen 01-06-2016 04:40 AM

My LQS has this pattern. You did a great job on yours.

littlesurfer 01-06-2016 04:43 AM

Very nice! I made one for Christmas and am thinking of making one in spring colors.

You can cut the top square smaller and add strips of different fabric on all four edges to equal the same size of the back square.

I have a pattern a friend gave me and there is no applique. You simply add a one inch strip around the front square and then cut the back square the same size. You sew and turn, like in making a potholder. (I ordered the actual pattern but its not arrived yet.) Using my friends method, I made one using blues and purples and put it around my blue candle. Her pattern calls for batting which doesn't stand up as well as the foam, but otherwise its lovely. I ordered the wreath and companion ornaments patterns from the same online shop, so I'm anxiously watching the mail. LOL

Jan...do you have a link for the pattern you are using? If so, please share. Thanks for the info. I guess I have an appliqué phobia!

pal 01-06-2016 05:58 AM

What is that on the end of the table? It looks like it's made of fabric too.

kona 01-06-2016 06:26 AM

Looked for this pattern but didn't have a name for it. Can anyone tell me what it is or tell me where to find it?

lorimax5859 01-06-2016 06:57 AM

I love your centerpiece! What a great way to display your candles - all year long!

MarleneC 01-06-2016 08:43 AM

Your wreath is lovely. You did a fantastic job.

gingerd 01-06-2016 03:13 PM

The pattern name is Fold n' Stitch Wreath.

meanmom 01-06-2016 04:36 PM

Someone posted a tutorial for this a couple of weeks ago. I really like it. I printed it out to use later. Unfortunately the printer jammed and only the picture printed. I couldn't find it again:-(

MargeD 01-06-2016 05:12 PM

I like it, and it's just in time for Valentine's Day. Very pretty.

matraina 01-06-2016 05:47 PM

Oh, it's so cute!

kaylfordsollimo 01-07-2016 06:53 AM

Looks great! Where there's a will, there is a way.

It appears to have been taken down. Somebody mentioned possible copyright laws but actually her pattern was totally different from the pattern that is being sold. If it was removed for that reason, it was totally unfair. I purchased the pattern by Poorhouse Quilt Designs and I also made the one following the post by Dottie D. and they are not even similar! One uses a pieced method and the other is applique. One requires Bosal or foam stabilizer and the other uses batting. I see tutorials on here for making bowl cozies, yet there is also a commercial pattern for sale. Not to mention Sock Snow People tutes and commercial patterns for them. I think Dottie had every right to her post but evidently someone else disagreed and removed it. Just MHO.

gingerd 01-21-2016 06:23 AM

That's sad....I've purchased the pattern and didn't realize it was appliqué. I stink at appliqué. I'd love to know how to make them without having to appliqué.

Hi Jan,
Thank you so much for your kind reply.
I personally asked for my post to be removed by the Moderator as I thought it was the best thing to do. I have since purchased the pattern from the U.S. and am just cutting out the fabric. Yes, my interpretation of the pattern is nothing like the purchased pattern and I had worked it out by looking at images of the wreath and the size of someone's hands holding it. I must admit I was hurt and it was certainly not my intension to break any copyright issues. Your comments here are gratefully accepted and thank you.

Could you send a link for the Pinterest pattern, Please?

notmorecraft 01-29-2016 11:46 AM

I did it by cutting 5 in sq in red, sashing with 3/4 inch in beige and backing in grey, used the birthing method, the animal head on the table is a Mayan beaded figure brought back from Mexico.

nunnyJo 01-30-2016 05:27 AM

great job especially with out a patt. have ordered a patt. hope to get it soon.

I did mine like notmorecraft did hers. I purchased the pattern and was very disappointed with it. The sew and turn method is much easier and nicer. Just remember to use Bosal foam or Pellon Ultra Firm stabilizer, not batting. I used batting in a test run and its too "floppy". Remember to cut the foam a bit smaller than the fabric squares.

grmascuba 02-29-2016 04:17 PM

tinker, did you ever find it, I am so confused by the pattern, thank you
