[QUOTE=Just Jan;7564651]Yay... I finally got it! I watched that tutorial and she mentioned using a 30 degree Dresden ruler. That's what was wrong with mine, the angles were off! I ripped it all apart, pressed well, then remarked all 12 squares, using the ruler- instead of the templet that came with the pattern. Sewed it back together and it lays flat and is no longer wimpy! So the batting was not the culprit. It's now on my table with a candle.
Sorry, no pix yet. (My cell is on the fritz and my new one is due the 7th or 8th.) I'm so glad you inspired me to keep trying! Thanks. I'm doing a happy dance!

That-A-Girl!! :-) I hadn't heard of using a Dresden ruler. Must be a tute from someone who also had trouble with the pattern. You got 12 squares from 7" squares? Well, persistence pays off for both of us. lol I like the Easter Egg idea and goblet. Not sure about the sprigs of pine. :-)

Check this tute out and see what she does with her wreath.

Yes, that's the tut where she uses the 30 degree Dresden ruler. I used 12 front and 12 back squares, each cut 6 1/2" then finished to 6". Makes sense if the Dresden takes 12 blades to lay flat. Its all about the angle of the ruler... I centered the ruler diagonally across my block, marked with a Frixion pen, started sewing up about 3/4 to 1" from the bottom point of my square and sewed to the top of the line (edge of the block) backstitching top and bottom of my seams. (1" makes a larger center opening in the wreath so, it depends on personal preference. I used 3/4 inch for a smaller opening- because my candle is smaller.) Next I pressed my squares to remove the pen marks, then sewed the corners together to finish it.

As long as you use 12 squares they could be any size you want depending on the diameter of the wreath you want. Mine is 18" tip to tip. I'm going to make another starting up 1" to leave the center opening larger, so it will probably make the wreath diameter a bit larger.

Note: I did not add the extra center seams like she did in the video.
I used one layer of 6" square (thin) batting because I was out of fusible interfacing.

Mine are 7" front and back with the Pelon being 6". I came down 1" from the top right corner and in to the left from the bottom right corner 2 1/2" and drew the line. I only used 10 squares. 12 squares would have given me a larger center hole. There is a lot of playing around that can be done to get it just the way we individually want them. :-)

These are just plain beautiful......

Love these! The pattern designer visited my guild last month and brought so many cute ones. The fabric combinations are endless! OK, I've got the stabilizer, fabrics, pattern, buttons...just need to make them! So cute, on to building a TP roll stash now too!
