Fon's and Porter Striped Star quilt top

I just got the top done, finally. I must do some other things before I can quilt it. I had lots of striped fat qtrs and used those up doing this. Why oh why I had to make this, I don't know.

I love it, would make a great donation quilt if you don't like it when finished. :)

The only hint in this one is to sew it together in angled rows. sort of like on point settings. that way, no Y seams. I didn't figure that out until I'd done the first full row of stars. hated doing Y seams on those orange diamonds. I did better as i went along.

I think your quit is exceptional. At least on my screen all the oranges are sherbert like. I bet you know someone that would just love it. Heck I would just love it.

Great looking...is the F&P pattern from one of their books...is it foundation pieced, saw one similar at Bonnie hunters site.....hers used paper foundation back....am gathering misc. strips for it now...love the cheddar cheese background..that is so 30's! Am doing a BH bow tie now using that color as background....

nope, not foundation pieced. just strips cut and sewn into six inch width and cut into triangles. I dug in my stash and found another top i will use for backing. I'm trying hard not to buy anything new if possible. I just did buy fabric to use with some blocks i recently won though.
