It is difficult to get good pictures of a king size quilt on a bed but, here's the top all put together. I will get much better pictures after I get it quilted & bound.

Amazing! I love the mix of intricate pieces and the white space for quilting.

ManiacQuilter2 04-25-2015 09:18 AM

It is just amazing. You have made a masterpiece! Love your use of color which he didn't seem to use very often.

Hard is kind of a relative term, for some it would be easy, for others difficult. I will say this, I learned a lot. I figured out ways that could have made it easier.... Guess if there is ever another I will be better prepared. Sometimes I struggled ALot! I wore out a seam ripper.
The pattern in the book is a wall hanging, like 20" X40" . this is 104" X 110"... It took me about 9 hours just to draft the pattern & get things to line up....then, I forgot to add seam allowances.... There were lots of ( smacking myself in the forehead) instances.

audsgirl 04-26-2015 08:56 PM

Outstanding! It will be just fabulous when you get it quilted.

Gorgeous quilt.

LindaJ 04-27-2015 03:43 AM

Wow , stunning! How did you get those thin black lines?

mirish2 04-27-2015 04:24 AM

I love FLW designs, both in architecture and quilting. I did a small quilt of this design. You are right, that after you work on it for a while, you think of shortcuts.

twinkie 04-27-2015 05:08 AM

Beautiful!!!

Clarice29 04-27-2015 05:28 AM

Very clever.

quiltybarb 04-27-2015 09:09 AM

I would love to do one of these but the patterns always intimidate me.....

#1piecemaker 04-27-2015 09:45 AM

Unusual! But pretty! good job

quilterpurpledog 04-27-2015 09:59 AM

Beautiful, modern quilt. I really like the strong lines in this quilt. It will become quite a "canvas" for the quilting. I will be anxious to see the finished quilt.

nananurse 04-27-2015 10:26 AM

Holy cow that is pretty!! Great job! Can't wait to see it quilted!

By cutting strips of black fabric 3/4" wide. Sewed into seams left 1/4" wide black lines.

MargeD 04-27-2015 10:38 AM

Great quilt. I don't think Frank Lloyd Wright expected his designs and art work would be transferred to quilts, but I think he would have been pleased. You did a great job on it.

jcrow 04-27-2015 11:16 AM

What is the name of the book this quilt was in? I love, love, love it. I could make the wallhanging to try it out. Thanks.

" Quilts in the Tradition of Frank Lloyd Wright " by Jackie Robinson -- quilts based on F.L.W's art glass designs 1900-1925.
I think there are about 16 different stained glass windows depicted/ created in quilt form. I just looked up the one I made, the pattern in the book makes a 42" X 51" quilt. I redrafted it to make a king size quilt

Yes, as soon as my ordered backing arrives I will load it up & get quilting on it.... My hubby said last night (" that's going to take you Weeks to quilt! ") oh he of little faith.... I am looking forward to the quilting. :)

Billy'swife 05-02-2015 08:41 AM

I've never seen a Frank Lloyd Wright quilt before. This is so unusual and very striking! Can't wait to see it quilted!
