this is a baby quilt i just finished. the picture blocks are from a panel of abc's. the block is from quilter's cache, (love that web site). i am getting into free motion and just stitched the abc's along all the borders and on all the blocks. plus some hearts. wasn't room for the "z" on the front but doesn't it make a cute label?
of course the colors are much softer than shows in the pictures.

oh ccbear, i was afraid someone would ask where the fabric came from. i have been trying to remember. i just build my stash and use it like a little mini fabric store when i get ready to make a quilt. lol. i probably got it at walmart. our store still carries fabric. the only other place i would have gotten it is a fabric outlet here called FM STORE. i don't think it is a chain, just a local guy who has had this store for many years. he has great quilt fabric for 3.99 per yard. it is the same as in the quilt stores but not the latest patterns. the selvage edge has the letters MBT TM printed on it. hope that helps.

thanks everybody. this really was a fun quilt.
those of you who free motion, what do you do with the bulk of the quilt while you are trying to free motion a small area. i keep getting hung and dragging which makes my stitches weird. i have the clear quilting table that comes with the pfaff quilting kit, but i am thinking i may have to lower the machine into the table to get enough flat surface to lay out the quilt. as it is i am afraid to tackle a larger quilt. how do you all deal with this issue?

Nanabirdmo, I think it would be a lot easier with your free-motion quilting with your machine working surface as flat as you can have it. Also, wearing rubber gloves such as surgical ones and putting your hands flat on your quilt as you go along will keep the fabric under your control.
