Freedom Flight Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
My donation to the local Freedom Flight organization that takes WW2 vets to Washington DC to see their memorial. Each participant gets a patriotic quilt upon their return. This was a pattern that said it took 6 hours to make the top....me = longer :-) I did machine quilt it myself, which I usually don't like to do, but it wasn't THAT big.

I am not into contemporary quilts but this looks great !! I am sure someone will be honored by receiving your quilt. My Dad fought in the Pacific but died in '88 before quilts were being made for WWII vets.
|
Pretty, love the design, I never heard of the cause, but sounds like a great one.
|
terrific quilt
|
OMG that is just beautiful, my Father died in 2000 and never got to participate in the Freedom Flight, he would have been so proud to go!!!

That's really pretty! Did you use a wedge template......what size? what size is the finished quilt? Love the fabrics you used and the design....is there a pattern?
|

I like that a lot! The pattern does look easy, so I might have to add it to my list of to do's. I know some lucky vet is going to love it! Good job!

Looks like Fourth of July! Great pattern!

Sorry about the sideways picture! I don't know why my MAC does that sometimes. Anyway - the pattern is from Cut Loose Press designed by Erin Underwood and is called Zigs and Zags. You do need the 15" wedge ruler. The pattern called for 48 1/2" by 72 1/2" but to tell you the truth, I didn't measure the finished product. I did do it "envelope" style where you turn it inside out rather than bind. The stars aren't called for by the pattern but I saw it made up like that at Tiger Lily Quilt Company in Utica NY. Luann Corts was nice enough to let me replicate her interpretation.
