finally i got up the nerve to try this one. shadowdancer was my inspiration. ever since i saw her's i knew i had to make a french braid. she was right, it was easy  :!: can's wait to do it again.
thanks once again shadow. (now to quilt the thing :-) |
That is gorgeous!!! Did you buy that French Braid Quilts book? I've lingered over it many times, but haven't bought it yet.
Just beautiful!! :D |
thanks barn,
no i didn't buy that book, but i found an old quilting book in a used book store and this was just one of many very cool patterns. i had to look at the quilterscache, though to really be able to figure it out. they have the best instructions as far as my little brain is concerned. |
That yellow really makes it pop!
|
That looks great love the colors you used.............maybe some day I'll try one............I just love yours
|

|
very very pretty I so want to do one if I ever get the time. I go to quilterscache all the time I have never seen the instuctions PLEASE tell me where
|
hi ceannastahr, thanks. to find the pattern go to quilter's cache and look up BRAID. i don't know what the page number is. they don't show it with the cornerstone (my yellow block) but it's easy to add that. once you get the hang of it, it's like doing a very long one sided log cabin block.
good luck. can't wait to see yours. |
Lovely!
|
I have bought the french braid book... and have cut out a table runner from it... that is my next task at the machine as from tomorrow... must try a quilt some time soon.
|
That's beautiful nanabirdmo!!! I love your colors...just delicious!!! :D :D
|
Your braid is beautiful. I find it hard to believe though that it is EASY!!!
Seeing that braid quilt made me think of Lin. She doesn't post anymore. Wonder what happened to her? |
Very lovely. Shadow is an inspirtaion to most of us. I'm working on a scrap twister thing. How's that for being technical?

Well this post made me go from just look in the window to coming in and joining the group. :D I have been looking in since about October. I have learn a few thing helpful to improve my quilting and have seen some BEAUITFUL quilts.
I to have been inspired by Shadowdancer to make a french braid. It has been added to my want to make list. I have already bought the fabric to make it but alas I have four quilts in process to finish first. I'm hoping to make it for a Christmas gift. Now to the reason I jumped in. I found on the web instructions (word doc) for a table topper make in the same pattern as Shadowdancers french braid. I don't think it's copywrited since it was a free word doc. I don't remember what website I downloaded it from. I am attaching the work document I downloaded. Hope it helps. Deb |

That is really cool!! Blue and yellow is one of my favorite color combos too. Was it hard to make? I have always stayed away from French Braid because I thought it looked so difficult.
