Fresh Fruit Parfait....My First Bargello

3 Attachment(s)
I decided that after the first of the year, I would try to challenge my creativity a bit. I saw a wall quilt on AllFreeQuilting.com made with jelly rolls, and knew this was the one I wanted. But I don't have wall space for hanging, so I decided to make it a larger size. It is 60"X70".

Here is the back:

And here is a closeup of the front:

I bought two books of bargello patterns. My challenge is finding colors to go together- hmmm-jelly rolls, thanks . Why didn't I think of that?
Yours turned out very nice-great colors together.

Well, I have been an apparel sewer for 65 years, but have only been quilting less than 5 years. It is a struggle for me to find fabrics that go together but not necessarily match. This way I didn't have to buy many yards of fabrics. It was 2 packs of Tonga Treats in Taffy and Meringue, plus a couple colors I had in my stash. I wasn't brave enough to try something more complicated, so this was perfect. I do see myself trying a more complicated bargello in the future, maybe in darker colors.

So let me challenge the rest of you....Since this was a "Jelly Roll" project (who would have thought?)I would like to challenge you ladies to come up with something from a jelly roll, that you would never expect. There are so many free patterns and books on what to do with precuts, I would like to see some of yours. Take an idea and run with it. Maybe I will make this a new thread. Give me your thoughts.
