Friends woven together

1 Attachment(s)
When I first began quilting in earnest, a good friend handed me a pamphlet showcasing several quilts that could be purchased from a now out of business company. As she handed it to me she made a comment about how much she liked one of the quilts pictured. Within a few days of that I drew out on graph paper the quilt she liked, figured out how much fabric I thought it would need and headed to a fabric store. You can probably guess, by looking at the colors of green and mauve, this had to be about 20 years ago. Well, last year I actually started cutting and piecing the top!!!! Health issues slowed me down for a few months, then I got messed up on the piecing, but finally it fell into place and I got it pieced, quilted and bound. Now for a label and to surprise her with this quilt! I know her house decor has changed in the 20 plus years it took me to make it, but I figure she can hide it under a bedspread or comforter. I used muslin on the back, off white thread, Hobbs 80/10 batting, quilted feathered wreaths in the light background "squares" with continueous curves in the pink and green squares.

Nice pattern! I've been trying to figure it out with shortcuts, and it's a simple puzzle with a few shortcuts. If anyone can identify, please do.

What a pretty pattern and a beautiful quilt. Shucks, after 20 years I wouldn't know where I had put the pattern. LOL

Pretty quilt!

katydidkg 10-06-2016 03:58 AM

Love that quilt ! I did a search for the pattern and came up with nothing but pics from a blog where a lady had made the quilt. If anyone finds a source for the pattern, I hope they share info. Weaver Fever designed by Jackie Robinson Jackie's Animas Quilts is a similar pattern. Instead of squares, Weaver Fever is done with short rectangles.

Very pretty quilt!

Wow great quilt. No matter how long it took. I promised a friend 30 years ago that I would crochet her a yellow rose Afghan. I started it then life got in the way. I finally finished it and gave it to her. She was happy to get it and had forgotten that I had started it for her

carolynjo 10-06-2016 05:41 AM

I love your colors!

I finely figured out that if I strip pieced the 3 greens, starting with a dark and ending with a dark, I could use that strip pieced section in several rows, before needing to use individual squares. Same for the pink strip set. I cut my fabric in 2.5 inch strips, then cut individual squares as needed.

You are very kind to think of your friend and make this quilt. Congratulations on completing it. I read recently that the mauve color is making a big comeback this year.
