This is wild and gorgeous and I wish I had done it! I think it is the hot pink that makes me say it is wild...but I have always been a sucker for hot pink.

Thanks for posting your piece of quilted art. Due to arthritis I can no longer hand applique or quilt. BUT I will look up Carmen Geddes and her method. I will make my sewing machine do what I cannot do.

jeanharville 07-25-2013 06:23 PM

As everyone has said, your talent is beyond outstanding. In addition to creating such a gorgeous work, your photography is great too. I can see almost every stitch and being able to see that makes it possible to see the precise stitching and beauty. Thanks for the wonderful pics and sharing your talent with us.

Beautiful. Curious as to how fast or slow you are moving the quilt to do such precise stitching. The curves and swirls are so nice. I never seem to get get them so smooth. Even with so much practicing.

Well done

That's an interesting question, and the answer is that if varies depending on how intricate the line is that I am stitching. For swooping curves, I say I go a "medium" speed so that I have enough forward motion to maintain a smooth curve. When I get close to spots where I need to be more precise, I slow both the speed of the machine and my hands. It's a lot like drawing that way. In fact, drawing designs first until you are comfortable with them will most likely help you stitch them better also.

Ok. Now i have another technique to learn! Will the learning never end??! Just when i think i know enough someone comes along , like you, with a gorgeous example of a new process! Beautiful piece, and i agree, the shaped border adds terrific movement and excitement to an already vibrant piece!
