Fun quick project with a cow theme
1 Attachment(s)
Colleague of mine asked me yesterday if I could make a tabletopper for her sister who has been having a difficult time lately. Apparently she really likes cows. My colleague found a cartoon cow online for me. I whipped it up last night. The cow is FMQ'd, hooves and spots colored in with permanent marker, and face in pink crayon.

Once you have your octagon, you just sew strips around it. Some people do every other side first then fill in the empty sides, some start with the first side, only sewing it halfway (leave unsewn towards the side where your last strip will be sewn), sew all the strips, when you get to the last strip, sew it down, then finish sewing the first strip. You can build out the octagon however you like, either with strips all the same width, or vary the widths for each strip set added. Because the octagon is essentially a blank canvas, you can piece it, embroider it, FMQ it, applique it....if you search the board for Octagonal table toppers there are lots of pictures.
