All I can hear is..."raise up a child in the way she should go and when she is old she will....sew." Lord, forgive my adaptation of your Word. I know it works. One of my daughters is a quilter. The other loves color and is an artist. My son is a photographer and uses experience playing with button and fabrics as he looks at color design and balance. Your efforts will show up in unexpected way in the years to come. Enjoy!

Cute quilt and granddaughter! My Granny used to let me organize her button box. She had me put a string through the matching buttons to make sets. You are making precious memories with your granddaughter!

Oh, cute. I can't remember when I didn't want a thread and needle.

Almost three. Definitely a future quilter.

They are never too young to start, my almost two granddaughter stands next to me when I am piecing, I have one pile right side up and the other pile right side down and she takes one off each puts them together and hands them to me to sew, she also helps with my cross stitch, I position the needle in the hole and she pushes it down or pulls it up then I pull it through, at her age if I let her pull it through the needle becomes unthreaded. Having a granddaughter has made me feel younger not older. Does anyone else feel the same?

WOW, lucky DGD, no such thing as starting them too young, but she already has a good color sense in how she placed the blocks. I once had a 5 year old girl sit on my lap while I quilted, she helped guide the fabric through the machine; however, her favorite part was stepping on the foot pedal. She saw me open the front of the machine when threading, saw the mechanism go up and down and said "Cool". Unfortunately, we are no longer in touch, however, I'm looking forward to seeing if our 4 year old DGD might be interested, I do know she loved the quilt that Grandma MiMi made her for Christmas, she told me she loved it very, very much, which my son said was high praise. I'd do anything for that little darling girl, such a sweetheart.
