Beautiful, I especially love the Take Me Home. I am making a Take Me Home type while I wait for kids at sports practices etc. I actually look forward to being able to sit in the car for 2 hrs sometimes.LOL

Both are stunning. You do beautiful work. Funny thing about the lattice quilt. I have the pattern and two similar greens although my flower fabric is different - it's Queen Anne's Lace which was my mom's favorite flower. I plan (one of these years) on making the lattice quilt and naming it "Nana's garden". What a coincidence! (however, you can be sure mine won't look nearly as good as yours)

sewmuch 10-12-2011 07:33 AM

Beautiful work on both, my fav is Nana's garden

The pattern was from an Australian magazine, Quilters Companion Vol2 No1 Issue 5 and was called Compass Colours by Dawn Toomey. I cut my templates out of freezer paper and whip stitched them together like you would with English paper piecing (the flying geese were fun  )
It was a great portable project.

It's amazing how much you can get done while waiting. I never thought I would enjoy hand piecing (I thought Jinny Beyer was mad for hand piecing such huge quilts) but I find it very relaxing.
I'm working on another hand piecing project as well

Thank you everyone, for all your kind comments, I hope my MIL loves the quilt as much as you do. The wall hanging is all mine

They are great, good job.

janiesews 10-13-2011 04:04 AM

WOW! They are both beautiful quilts. Maybe you need to tell your Mother-in-law that you want her to use it for a lap quilt-she may have been afraid to use something so beautiful when you gave her the 1st one.

Latrinka 10-13-2011 04:42 AM

Both gorgeous!

The mariner's compass I entered in Rhonda's competition, and I was suprised and pleased that I won. (Thank you to everyone that voted for me and to Rhonda and Patrice for all your work with these competitions)
This is hand pieced using the freezer paper method while waiting for the kids at their various activities so I called it "Take Me Home"

Lovely quilts. What edition of the Australian Patchwork and quilting magazine is the garden lattice quilt in. Save me searching all my APQ magazines.

Love the Garden Lattice. Just the pattern I was looking for to make my personal quilt. Couldn't find one like it so ended up ordering a different one. Last night!!! lol of course.
The star is lovely. I admire anyone who had the patience to do all those points so perfectly.

Cuddly Quilter 10-13-2011 04:57 AM
