Very pretty....ok i have a question what is the pellon for ?

Tink74 05-06-2011 10:00 AM

Some of my intersections were weak and close to the edge of pulling apart...this is to keep it strong and to keep the batting from bearding out too

tealfalcon 05-06-2011 10:03 AM

Ah...well that's good to know....I never knew that

tealfalcon 05-06-2011 10:04 AM

How big is your completed quilt ?

donnaree59 05-06-2011 10:07 AM

Bobbielinks 05-06-2011 10:26 AM

aurora41 05-06-2011 10:29 AM

It is really beautiful. But it is also lots of work, especially your hand sewing.
Enjoy it.

belmer 05-06-2011 10:31 AM

Just Beautiful... I like the little tip on using the pellon for extra support of the seams.

LAQUITA 05-06-2011 10:33 AM

I L_O_V_E the quilts. I am just starting out learning about the GMQ squares. This one is gorgeous.

Maggiemay 05-06-2011 10:47 AM

I have enjoyed watching the progress on this quilt! It is really something- just beautiful!

quilthappygail 05-06-2011 10:56 AM

What a beautiful quilt. I am just stating mine and have enjoyed watching yours progress. How long have you been working on your quilt? I will be at mine for a long time because I plan to do it while watching tv in the evening. It should keep me from wanting to snack which will help me not to get any heavier than I am now and maybe I could drop a few pounds.
Congratulations on a wonderful quilt and be sure to show us the finished product.
Gail

Sewfine 05-06-2011 12:07 PM

It is pretty. I see a lot of quilts and fabric with quarter on it. What is that for?

roseOfsharon 05-06-2011 12:10 PM

Just lovely and I too did not know of using pellon. :) I know you have a lot of work ahead of you yet with the hand quilting :) It will be a masterpiece once finished.

Beebonnet 05-06-2011 12:15 PM

Your quilt is so very pretty. I am piecing a GFG, which is actually a UFO from many years ago. Hope I can keep it going this time.
Have you used pellon before? and do you think it will make it harder to quilt?
I have found I have to watch those edges very carefully when I am first starting a new hex. They seems to scoot, so I have started pinning them in the center. Even then they tend to move.

I have been working on this since September 2010. It started as a car project from scraps from my niece's quilt. I wanted to learn the process, but it grew and grew and then turned into what it is today. It then turned into a stuck-at-the-hospital on-call project. Then...I had emergency back surgery a few weeks ago and I was told to sit and don't move. I am more mobile now, but still being very careful!! I can't sit at my machine yet, but hoping to try that come Monday =D Now for the hand quilting on this project...

Really pretty! I agree, it is light and fresh. I like the contrast of the light pink with all the brights...

978gray 05-06-2011 08:04 PM

Wow that is excellent. You have more patience Thames me!

quilterella 05-07-2011 03:17 AM

Simply Stunning!!! You have created a beautiful heirloom. I started one months ago and realized I don't have the patience to sit and do it for any great length of time so it is my Dr appt's project. Sometimes I can get 10-15 hexs done while waiting. Yes, it will take a long time at this rate but, it will be worth it. Yours is a great inspiration. thankyou for sharing.

I never thought of putting lightweight pellon on the back of the quilt. I think I'll do that for the one my mother hand pieced a zillion years ago to stabilize it. She has a few places that are weak and I have been afraid of it coming apart after I finish it. Thanks for the idea.

munchkinmama 05-07-2011 05:37 AM

I am working on a GFG, too. I have 84 flowers made. I keep wondering what type of batting to use. Did you use flannel? I am also worried about the binding. Have you decided how to do that yet? Interested in any info. I love making the flowers. It has almost become an addiction.

grannypat7925 05-07-2011 05:50 AM
