My wonderful, loving husband bought this for me in Atlanta a couple weeks ago at the Sewing and Quilting Expo. Fed Ex called yesterday and set up delivery for today (I was soooo excited all night and this morning!) Turns out it was coming on an 18-wheeler and since we have a quarter mile long concrete driveway, he could NOT come up it. I had to go down and meet him at the road and get the boxes loaded in the back of our little Kubota. There they sat, aaaaalllll day until my hubby came home. :)

Got everything set up and ready tonight. Can't wait until the kids go down for a nap tomorrow! :)

 How could you just sit there and look at them all day ? LOL

The machine actually isn't new, just the table. :)

YAY Rachel, your sewing machine looks fabulous in the brand new cabinet! You're going to make great use out of the drawers and you're going to absolutely love having all that space on the left side!

Please tell your hubby he is awesome! He got you the new sewing machine a couple months ago and now a new cabinet to put it in. He's an awesome guy! :D

I tell him how much I love him on a pretty regular basis. :) He's always been very supportive of my interests and hobbies. I'm a lucky lady!

sewnsewer2 03-23-2010 07:09 PM

Congrats! You mean you didn't already have it set up when hubby got home? I would have. The anticipation would have killed me otherwise!

wvdek 03-23-2010 07:52 PM

Woohoo! He's a keeper for sure.

Wine Woman 03-23-2010 08:13 PM

I just don't know how you could stand looking at the boxes all day long!?! I would have moved that pretty red car out of the way and backed that baby right up to the door as close as I could get it and went to it! Enjoy, it's a beautiful cabinet.

nursie76 03-23-2010 08:33 PM

Oh Rachel! I am soooo happy for you! What a keeper your DH is!

It was tempting to try it on my own but the big box weighed roughly 170 lbs. I can toss a 50 lb bag of horse feed around easy enough, but a nearly 200 lb box is another story. :) I figured waiting and having it come in in one piece was a better idea than trying it on my own and ending up with a shattered cabinet. :)

LindaR 03-24-2010 05:11 AM

I have that table and love it....they are so nice.

BKinCO 03-24-2010 05:27 AM

You're lucky. That's all I have to say :)

I loved that expo! So much to look at! I bought several ruler/templates from Deb Tucker. I have been enjoying those a bunch.

My grandmother is doing okay, at best. Her memory is definitely going. She's not the same gramma anymore for sure. It broke my heart because she didn't recognize me when I first came in the house. Used to be she'd light up and smile so big when she saw me. I'd get a big warm hug and you knew how happy she really was to see you. She used to want to know what all was going on and how you'd been. This time she didn't ask any questions or really join in the conversations at all. It was sad. I feel for my mom and aunts in the coming years as they will have to deal with the issues of moving her into some kind of assisted living. I'm not sure how long it will be until she will not be able to live on her own like she is now.

Isn't it nice when our honeys are so supportive...very nice.

littlehud 03-24-2010 04:35 PM

What a great delivery. I would have been bonkers having to look at the boxes all day and not being able to play. Have fun with your new toy.

prezzy 03-24-2010 04:42 PM

Hope your kids take a long nap.

joeyoz 03-24-2010 05:31 PM

That is so awesome. What a lucky girl you are. I don't think I could have waited all day. I would have been trying to put it together myself. LOL

dkabasketlady 03-24-2010 08:33 PM

What an exquisite cabinet!! How can you wait until nap time? I'd have to try it out a little at night! What a great DH you have!

beautiful cabinet. i would like to invest in a better sewing surface. right now i am sewing on a table and cant adjust my chair to the right height. what brand is your lovely cabinet? is the white item in the center of the photo a support to stabilize the machine? do the lower 5 drawers roll out as one unit?

Hi Peabee,

This cabinet is by Horn of America. The white thing is the runner that the machine platform is attached to. You set your "stops" on it so you can raise and lower the machine by just pushing on the platform. You can push the machine all the way down and cover the opening with a matching piece of table and then you have your machine stored away and a plain table for cutting or doing whatever on.

The lower 5 drawers are one separate unit. This table and drawer unit come totally assembled, you just have to put the drawer knobs on and the wheels on the bottom.

I have the same furniture, but in white. It is very nice furniture.

Gorgeous cabinet. When I buy something heavy like that I open it in the truck bed and just haul in pieces and stack on the floor. Then if I can understand the directions, I start putting it together. I bought three cabinets w/glass doors like that. It took a while to get them all inside but, I did it. I usually buy stuff like that when DH goes for a weekend, the thought of buying most things don't set too well with him but, once I buy it he is okay with it. After 48 Years I have learned how to do things.

Ditter43 03-25-2010 08:08 AM

I wondered about the size of the boxes...Now that I know it was the table I understand!! Have fun when those little ones nap!! Give your wonderful hubby a big hug from me!

It's from Horn of America. It's good quality furniture. It comes in 2 colors, the wood grain that Rachel has, and I have it white.

Here's the home page of their site: http://hornofamerica.com/

Here's the one Rachel and I have, it's called the Quilter's Dream: http://hornofamerica.com/products.cf...s&productID=92

I see they now have the Super Quilter's Dream, which looks like it has some space on the right side. That's the one drawback for me about this furniture. I bought a 2 shelf night stand cabinet and painted it white to put next to it. Does the job perfectly!

Ronster 03-26-2010 07:30 AM

Rachel, this looks like fun. Am I the only one who wants a better look at the quilt on the wall above your new sewing station? Looks like a Broken Dishes pattern?

GrammaNan 03-26-2010 10:18 AM

I believe your husband is a keeper. Congratulations on your new equipment. Happy Quilting.

MelissaK 03-26-2010 10:37 AM

Wow! I was thinking I could use a table that dropped the machine into it. My husband said I could get a new table. There are no prices on the site. How much do they run?

AtHomeSewing 03-26-2010 10:44 AM

It's Gorgeous! Congratulations! :) :)
