Glitter Trees
3 Attachment(s)
I made a basic arrangement of applique green trees in muted colors. I machine stitched the applique. A layer of very sparkly green tulle was pinned over the quilt. I added FMQ to the trees and the tulle gave more texture and dimension. The sky has my version of snow. The best part was the whole quilt was now very shimmering and sparkly. There was a problem with a missing piece of tulle in a corner. Since I was already in sparkly land, I decided to add gold lame in the corner, I know, gold lame! I did some fancy stitching in gold metallic thread and even added some sunbeams. Of course, what my gold lame sun with sunbeams needed was crystals, naturally. It did not turn out as horrible as it sounds. Take a look. Pictures fail to capture just how glittery the whole thing is. It sparkles.

Very creative use of 'untypical' quilt materials. The stitching adds good dimension. Overall, you did a fabulous job. :-)

Isn't it fun how a project can progress from plain to lots of bling, with just a few well planned additions?! Bet you had fun.

What a lovely piece of artwork! It has a very creative, organic feel to it. I love the free form trees and great stitching you've done.
A beautiful quilt.

You are an artist. I see your grouping of trees as shivvering, at first, and then they look interactive like a group of young girls on the playground, very friendly, and third, they are responding to the warm presence of the sun. Very effective and I like sparkly. The overall effect is very understated, which works well, and your stitching is just right. BEAUTIFUL.
