GO IU! My latest.

4 Attachment(s)
My aunt who lives in Kentucky is a HUGE IU fan! She has custom plates on her car with IU on them and hangs an IU flag on her front porch in the heart of KU territory. She wanted a new quilt for her bed and requested an IU one of course. This is what I came up with. It and the shams are reversible just incase she wants to change things up a bit.

My husband and I are going down there this week to give it her. I can't wait.

Thank you for stopping for a view and comment.

QuiltnNan 03-25-2014 06:46 PM

Billi 03-25-2014 06:46 PM

Wow! That is beautiful. How could she not love it.

EmiliasNana 03-25-2014 07:13 PM

What a beautiful gift. You can tell you really put a lot of effort into your design and to make it reversible is just pure genius. You are a great niece. Two of my niece's didn't even send acknowledgements when I sent their first born daughters hand smocked dresses. Needless to say, I quit sending. Love it, even if I'm not an IU fan.

Tartan 03-25-2014 07:37 PM

Both sides are super! You are going to be her favourite neice.

It was my design but reminds me a something you might see on a cheerleaders uniform. It didn't look that way in the design process but when I finished the top, that is what I saw. LOL!

I don't if I could have done it if the request were for 'black and gold'. LOL

Thank you.

Actually a preprinted fabric was something she didn't want me to use but you are right, you can't find it out there.

My aunt is originally from the Jeffersonville (Clarksville) area. She has lived in Louisville most of her adult life though so she has been putting up with being teased for a long time.

NIICHMOM 03-26-2014 06:27 AM

Thank you. I am sorry to hear that you didn't get acknowledgements back on your gifts. I have had that happen a few times too, very heartbreaking. My mom told me the other day, the quilt she made her sister-in-law, is in a closet because her SIL doesn't want it to get ruined. It nearly broke my moms heart when she found out because she knows her SIL loves, she is always telling her shows it off to friends when they come over but that is the only time it sees day light.

The back side will probably never see the light of day unless she is showing it off. LOL

leatheflea 03-26-2014 07:07 AM

Well done! You could make a fortune selling those around here! I made a Colts quilt, super simple, $300, took about a week start to finish.

feline fanatic 03-26-2014 07:15 AM

Wow! That is impressive. Your aunt will be thrilled with it.

You did an amazing job on your quilt. Your aunt is one lucky lady! I really didn't expect it to be that beautiful and to have it reversible - what an accomplishment!
