Was going to make a wall quilt for my kitchen, but this turned into an apron for the owner of the restaurant in our small town. Hope she likes it. Was hard to find a "model" for my apron, so I pinned it to the box fan in my living room, always looking for new uses for things. What do you guys think?????

It's really cute! I love food fabrics. You have some brilliant ones there! The background makes the jars pop! Great job!

Ducky 06-25-2009 11:27 AM

Looks great, Kellie! The fabric is so fun to look at.

Darlene 06-25-2009 11:28 AM

I think the cook will be proud to wear and you are so thoughtful making it for her.

Jim's Gem 06-25-2009 11:33 AM

Very nice!!! So do you get to eat there at a discount now?

amma 06-25-2009 11:53 AM

AWESOME :D :D :D I love the wood shelves and various sized jars, they are wonderful with the black fabric :D :D :D You better get dinner, pie and coffee when you give this to her

I think it looks great--love, love, love the indian corn jar!

RedGarnet222 06-25-2009 01:28 PM

I think she would be crazy not to just love this apron! So cute!

Lainee 06-25-2009 01:28 PM

I saw a quilt posted with the jars and really liked it too...a future to do list item.

I also have the wood fabric that you used for the shelves...also bought some sky fabric from the site.

beachlady 06-25-2009 01:33 PM

I love it!!! What a great idea to make an apron! You still should do a wall hanging for yourelf!

quiltluvr 06-25-2009 01:41 PM

Oh my goodness! How adorable is that???? Yes, I second that, make your wallhanging too.

The name escapes me at the moment, but there's a new line of vegetable and fruit prints coming out or is out. I gravitate to the more realistic looking prints and yours looks edible.

How perfect for the restaurant owner and so generous of you to make that for them.

(Pppssttt---I'm the head chef in my kitchen and I can get my clothes awfully stained. Just sayin', that's all. :P )

I love food fabrics and canning jar quilts and wallhangings but never thought to make an apron from them. Great apron and great idea! Hmmm, now I know what to do with some of the hundreds of canning jar blocks I have.

Love the apron. A couple of the jars could be the pockets.

omak 07-02-2009 09:08 AM

Nice apron and use of food stuff fabrics ...
Lucky restaurant friend!

lass 07-03-2009 02:54 AM

I think you should sign this one in permanent marker. I bet more people will be wanting one!

Yarn or Fabric 07-03-2009 03:06 AM

A friend of mine made me a food jar wallhanging and she said it was a bugger to make - I have wanted to make one for the school cafeteria to hang on their walls for decoration but after hearing her say it was a bugger I have been pushing the thought away...

Did you find it also to be not so fun to quilt? Yours came out beautifully! (okay, so did the one my friend made me)

Connie1948 07-03-2009 04:17 AM

Thanks for the kind words.
I made this in 2 afternoons after work. The jars are paper pieced, I will admit that I did not "quilt" it at all, this is a reversible apron and the back was a solid piece of "food" fabric. When I make my wall hanging I will be adding "books" to the shelves to make it more realistic, they are paper pieced as well.

It is NOT a bugger to make. My nine-yr-old made one (foundation piecing). Started it at Martha Pullen Sewing School, but finished it here with me watching.
