Love the color choices! Your stitching is very nice. Wish I had patience to hand sew too!

Awwwwwwww. Very nice for a baby and the colors will grow w/ the child. Looks like you started to hand quilt. Love the plaids mixed w/ calico.

Love the colors but your title scared me. When I hear gold star I think of those that have lost someone in the service. Hopefully this baby's family is all safe and sound

Well, ladies, I found more quilts with this same patchwork pattern, looking at the MYSTERY TRAIN #3 under the Albums right here on QB. There is lots of variety in the scrappiness, with lots of different colors of the stars.

Actually the tiny yellow stitching on the Gold Star is only an adornment, not quilting the layers. I used three strands of DMC Embroidery Floss, in a near-match to the color of the stars. This is only stitched through the top layer, it helps define the stars, helps to make the little seams lie flat on the underside. And it gives that "hand-stitched" look. The whole quilt will be machine sewn, including machine quilted, and I'm working on that at home. Thanks to all for your words of encouragement, and positivity.
