So, after reading how so many of ya find really great deals at your local GoodWill stores I have been seeking out the ones here in OKC and finally got something worth sharing. Mostly just found some "new" toys for my 2-yr. old grandson.
However, today I happened to see something a bit to my liking and literally ran across the store to check it out. Mental picture just doesn't do that justice! LoL!!
I have no idea who made it, but the quilting on it is just beautiful! I paid $5.99 for it and have already washed it in my front loader with a light spin, then hung on the line outside while repositioning it every 15 mins til dry. Don't wanna ruin it. ;-)
I am really not a fan of pink but adore butterflies and for some reason the pink just fits this quilt. I am no expert but to me, this looks like the real deal as you can tell it's machine pieced and quilted, along with the binding that has been top-stitched from the front. It does have a few tiny seams that need a bit of repair, I found 3 that have "popped" just slightly. Even the backing has been pieced. It has a poly batting, from what lil bit I can see and is king-sized. I really wish there was a siggy or some type of labeling on it but, am just really thrilled with it!
I also happened on the cutest little trinket while there too and couldn't pass it up either. This really is so much fun, thanks for the insight everyone!

Full pic, had to stand on barstool to get as much as I could!

Beautiful, I'm glad that you were able to rescue it!

What an excellent find! Great price too. Most of the thrifts around here have caught on to quilts and price them much higher - I've seen some pretty ratty ones running $30-40 at the thrift! Fabric is hard to come by, too, but it can be found occasionally. I've found a lot of embroidery threads (DMC and such). Good job. It's great fun.

The title cracked me up- by the way that was such a good movie :)
I cannot believe you got that for 5.99- wow! It's beautiful!!!!

Cyn 03-03-2011 12:28 PM

Holy Cow! That is awesome :)

LoL! I loved that movie too, couldn't resist the urge to use it.
Even my husband kept asking me if I was gonna get it or not. Told him I didn't know how much it was and he said "Does it matter, really? It is in great shape and worth it imho." Think I might keep him afterall! ;)

What a great find.... one of the nicest quilts I have seen.

katiescraftshop 03-03-2011 12:34 PM

It's a great steal and I love your "vintage machine". I generally find deals for my kids but rarely find fabric.

roseOfsharon 03-03-2011 12:35 PM

Oh I just love your "new found" treasures! Love the quilt, and truly love the teapot or cookie jar! :)

caliquocat 03-03-2011 12:35 PM

What a wonderful find! It's beautifully made & the quilting is so nice too. Lucky you!

We no longer have a Goodwill or Salvation Army store in our area. There are a couple of local thrift stores but I think the college kids hit them every day for clothes & housewares.

BrendaY 03-03-2011 12:36 PM

LOVE your "find"! You are a lucky girl!

bjnicholson 03-03-2011 12:36 PM

Beautiful. I love the butterflies. And your "trinket" is really cute!

I hear ya, that is what I went in search of too! Even asked the really nice girl there if they ever got any fabric in from time to time and I think somehow I grew like 2 heads or something. The look she gave me was a lot more informative than a simple "No" would have been.

I think it's a teapot. It is only 5" high by 6.5" wide, from handle to tip of spout. The lil machine part lifts off for a tiny opening, I couldn't imagine anyone actually trying to pour anything in it for I know I would miss the opening even with a magnifying glass! LoL

Fiber Artist 03-03-2011 01:04 PM

Very nice!!

LeeAnn 03-03-2011 03:09 PM

What a deal and beautiful too! Your teapot is so cute. Looks like you did well for yourself.

earthwalker 03-03-2011 03:11 PM

Excellent finds....I'm not a "pink" person either, but the butterfly design really makes this special. Thanks for sharing with us.

boohoofish 03-03-2011 03:19 PM

Well worth the price and a beautiful quilt!

littleone 03-03-2011 03:20 PM

Don't you just love it when you make such great finds. I seen your tea pot last week at my local Goodwill. Too funny.

grammyj 03-03-2011 03:27 PM

Nice Quilt, I have a tea pot like that ,my granddaughter got it for me. I never find any thing good at goodwill or thrift stores.

maggy 03-03-2011 03:33 PM

This is beautiful. This is why we should label all of our work. When we close our eye and our kids put our goods in the dump,Goodwill,Savers orSalvation Army someone like us will retrive it. Only quilters can appreciate all that hard work.

beckyw 03-03-2011 03:33 PM

great find

mygirl66 03-03-2011 04:04 PM

Sweet! Im glad it has a good home now!

rootyr 03-03-2011 04:29 PM

A wonderful find!

BETTY62 03-03-2011 11:35 PM

Beautiful quilt. What a buy. Love your new machine.

Quilting Fran 03-04-2011 04:47 AM

Beautiful, someone spent alot of time on this quilt. Would it not be great if every quilt had a label, so in the future we would know the history of the quilt. You found a beauty, glad you will give it a good home.

pollyjvan9 03-04-2011 05:07 AM

How come I never find anything like that...I'm in OKC also.

Sorry Polly, now ya sound just like me after seeing how others make great finds at yard sales and thrift stores! I happened on this at 89th & Penn, after hitting the one in Midwest City and Moore(that ones closed though). I have yet to find anything decent at the few thrifts I went too though, do ya know of any good ones?

MimiLinda 03-04-2011 01:09 PM

You did good. Bet you will be a frequent visitor. Happy quilting.

CindyinNY 03-04-2011 01:09 PM

WOW Nice find! I have a king size bed, just in case you don't.

Mariposa 03-04-2011 01:13 PM

Your new treasures are great!

KiwiQuilter 03-04-2011 01:18 PM

Love both of your finds. How fantastic.

hperttula123 03-04-2011 01:20 PM

Love the title....I wasn't sure what to expect...lol.
That quilt is a steal for that price and it is beautiful. :)

champagnebubbles 03-04-2011 01:22 PM

Good for you!

woody1229 03-04-2011 01:24 PM

I'm trying to figure out who would have let a quilt as lovely as that go to the Goodwill!!! But thankfully, that silly family's loss is your gain!

jillaine 03-04-2011 03:09 PM

LOVE the subtle/pale colors; proof again that not all of our (my) quilts have to jump out and grab you by the eyeballs!

VERY nice.

grammy6 03-04-2011 06:52 PM

ooohhhh so beautiful. I would've bought it in a hearbeat! Lucky you~

dreamer2009 03-04-2011 06:57 PM

Beautiful. I love the butterflies.

Rumbols 03-04-2011 07:32 PM

LOL. Love your title. You found an awesome quilt. Took me a minute with my eye site to understand your 'machine'. Very cute.

sewnsewer2 03-04-2011 07:34 PM
