Graduation Quilts

2 Attachment(s)
I have two grandsons graduating this spring--one from high school and the other from college. The high school grad wanted a quilt for Okla State Univ where he plans to attend. The college grad is finishing a Wildlife and Park Managements degree, so thought the "woodsy" print was a good choice for him. It came as a kit, but I doubled the original and then added the piano key border to make it bigger. Will be taking these to the quilter as soon as I return to Kansas. Right now I'm helping my sister out in Indiana. Today I have her great granddaughter while she is at the hospital with her daughter (the baby's grandmother is fighting cancer). It has been many years since I took care of a six month old.
I made these tops using my "new" Featherweight. Sewed like a charm and what a joy to have a small machine to travel with. If I need fancy stitching for anything I use my sister's machine.

Both quilts are beautiful. I bet your Grandson was super proud of OSU and the Cowboys this past year! My son went to OSU a long time ago. They also have several pro golfers that graduated from there, the most recent being Ricky Fowler.

Yes, I did love how it sewed. This was my first time for using it extensively. I have to adjust the bobbin tension occasionally but it isn't hard to do. I may invest in a new bobbin holder (can't think of the right word) sometime.
Another sister and I are going to Hawaii the end of April and first of May, so I had to have these ready to take to the quilter as soon as I get back to Kansas. Think we get home from our trip one week before the first graduation.

The quilts are beautiful. Is there somewhere I can get the pattern for the college quilt. I think I can use it to make a quilt for my niece for her graduation.

Judy Brown 02-20-2012 09:27 AM

Thanks for the information you sent. I really enjoyed seeing your quilts, and I know the young men receiving them will be thrilled. Thinking of Sharon and Christina this morning, and know you will have fun with the baby. Thanks for sharing
