Granddayghter's Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
This is the quilt I made for my Granddaughter's high school graduation. She is going to college in August and will take it with her. It has special meaning for both of us because I made it for a tribute to her life-long courage in battling cystic fibrosis for 17 years and just had a double lung transplant, giving her new life. It a new life quilt.

Well, that is quite a beautiful tribute to her new life. Congratulations to both of you.
It is a lovely quilt for many reasons. |

Your quilt is beautiful! What is even more beautiful is that your granddaughter has a whole new life ahead of her. She not only received your gift made with love, but the gift of life from another. How wonderful! God Bless you both and all the best to your granddaughter! This was a very touching story. And yes, tears were shed.

Your quilt top is very lovely, but the quilting is gorgeous! Best wishes to your granddaughter in college, a long healthy life and everything God can give her!

That is a beautiful quilt. I had two cousins who died from that when I was growing up. We now have a great niece who is living with it, and she will soon be 16. :) This is dear to my heart.

What a very pretty quilt you made her. I am sure she will always treasure this quilt that you made with so much love wrapped in with the fabric and thread.
|
Wow. Love the quilt and your story. My nephew passed away at the age of 5 with this disease back in the early 70's.
|
What a lovely quilt and I'm so happy that she has a new life. Testimony to organ donation and your love for her! Best wishes to her in college.

Ditto to all that has been said. Blessings to your granddaughter on her new journey in life. BrendaK

Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments--very heartwarming To those of you who have loved ones who have died from this terrible disease, my heart and sympathies go out to you. For those who have loved ones fighting CF, know that there are so many advances in medicine to fight CF and more will come I am sure. Our GD had to have surgery when she is one day old for a bowel obstruction, and we learned that day that she had CF. For 17 years she had progressively better treatments. Take heart and know there are thousands of people praying for all with CF and for the cure. Again, thank you all again, and blessings on all of you.

One more thing. Your faith in humanity will be restored by knowing that hundreds and hundreds of people supported Judy through the years. Many many fundraisers were held for her and over $70,000 were raised to help pay for her surgery. It seemed that people could not do enough for her. As our daughter always said, "God is good, and so are people".

A special quilt for a special girl. Best wishes to her in future life.

How wonderful that your DGD is doing good, and hope that CF may one day be a thing of the past. I have a cousin whose granddaughter has CF and has just been chosen as the Alabama poster child for CF, she is doing well with God's help.
Beautiful quilt, and hope she does great in college and with the lungs transplant. |
Lovely quilt...and wonderful reason to create it! So happy to hear your precious grand daughter received her transplants and is doing so well! Yay!!!!
|
It's gorgeous........

I love the floral squares. Really adds to the beauty of the quilt. I m sure your granddaughter is just as lovely and wish her continued health and love from her family

Great looking quilt. When my youngest child was born he was having a lot of problems and at 3 months of age he was diagnosed with CF. They had done 14 sweat chloride tests and 12 of them were positive. We had to learn percussion therapy and put enzimes on his food (43 years ago). Everything we were told was on the negative side and very few positives. Then when he was 4 years old, a CF specialist moved into the next county. We made an appointment with Dr.D and when my son walked into the exam room, he said, "If this child has CF, he is the healthiest looking CF patient I have ever seen". Long story short, the doctor did tests and said there was an error and he did not have CF. I feel that it was a miracle.
I am so very glad to hear of her fantastic progress and GOD bless you all. |
Congratulations to both your granddaughter for her new life and love of family. You for the beautiful quilt and love you give.<object type="cosymantecnisbfw" cotype="cs" id="SILOBFWOBJECTID" style="width: 0px; height: 0px; display: block;"></object>
