I have been working on this quilt since I found out my daughter was pregnant. My grandson Alex is now 11 mos old. I want to give it to him for his first birthday on February 17. The only thing I am not happy with is that the stripes in the border should be mitered but I didn't know how to do it so I did it differently.

That is so cute!!! Mitering would have nice but I think it looks great!

Chele 01-07-2010 02:33 PM

How cute is that? It's going to be his favorite blankie! He's getting old enough to cherish it now. Way to go grandma!

OMG that is just ADORABLE!!

Patchwork Pam 01-07-2010 02:48 PM

That is one adorable quilt   The border looks as if it has already been trimmed. If so, you may not have enough length left to miter the corners. I wouuldn't worry though, as it is a great quilt already. Pam

Don't worry about the borders. The quilt looks GREAT!

That quilt is so cute. Just right for a little boy.
I wouldn't worry about the borders not being mitered. I think they look nice the way they are.

If you do a search under "Playtime" and block of the month and it took me to some places that have this available. Thanks for all your nice comments.

It's perfect. I like all the different designs and block sizes. It is going to be treasured.

Bevanger 01-08-2010 05:36 AM

aw that is so cute

Jingle 01-08-2010 07:36 PM

I think it looks just fine and it is the quilt maker's choice how they want to make their quilt. No quilt police here and I have never mitered my borders..

tucky46 01-09-2010 02:21 PM

he is going to love it.

barnbum 01-09-2010 03:09 PM

He's a year old--he doesn't give a rip about mitered corners! All he knows is that his grandma made him a quilt that he's sure to love!

Well I am finally done Alex's quilt with a few days to spare before his 1st birthday. All I have to do now is put on a label.

gramqlts 02-08-2010 02:58 PM

It is prescious....tell everyone it was made with love, prayers, and a few imperfections. That's what I tell everyone I give a quilt to. He will love it for many years to come.

rootyr 02-08-2010 02:59 PM

It is great. Maybe next time you can try a miter.
