I wanted to make a unique quilt for each of my grandsons with their interests in mind. One is totally into machines, robots in particular. I found a small picture online and did a by guess and by golly measurements to make a full size robot quilt. His brother loves animals and after seeing the robot wanted a "big" puppy so I made up my own pattern for it. The third grandson loves to read so the library quilt was best for him with book titles of Harry Potter, camping and trombones for his interests.

I did not keep the patterns for the robot or the doggie. The library /bookshelf one was a bought pattern.

The only hard part on the library one was the books done at an angle. I really had to work at those.

KellyK 10-29-2010 10:50 AM

And.... bookmarked! Absolutely inspiring, I love the robot the best although they are all wonderful!

ChrisB 10-29-2010 10:58 AM

The robot and puppy designs were mine and I did not keep the pattern measurements on either.

The Library/Book quilt pattern was first seen in Summer 1996 issue of Quick Quilts that carried an article by Debbie Kratovil, "The Library Quilt" on pages 34-37, about the AOL quilt exchange.

This is where I got my pattern and it is a pretty good pattern. I did have problems with the books at an angle on the shelf but worked out OK.
